Skill for Dwarf Blitzer

Post by VorTeX »

Hi there,

my new Dwarf Team is doing really fine and my best player, my Blitzer will get his 3rd Skill soon.
Till now he got AG+1 and ST+1 :)
But what to give him next? He´s my main ball carrier.
And the rest of the team can be found here:

Normal skill: Pro will be fine for your best player
Double: Dodge to be really hard to kill or Dump off to save the ball in an emergency situation.

Dump off is a waste for a double... who should catch the ball?

Doubles: Dodge, Leap (i am not kidding) or Stand Firm
Normal: If your league has lots of Strip Ballers then Sure Hands
if not think about Sure Hands(again), Pro, Strip Ball or Guard (you can never have enough Guard on a Dwarf Team!)

His friend the runner at 3 cases of distance. If the blitzer is surrounded by many people to knock down and take the ball, dump off and the runner will be the only chance to save it.
Leap will be fine but being the only leaper, it's a little dangerous to invade the ennemy side with the ball...

I really love dump off.

Normal - tackle or strip ball. This boy can go where other Dwarves fear to tread.

Double - Leap (dwarven war dancer 8)) or dodge.

BTW I'd not use him as your main ball carrier as much - give a runner dump off and use him instead. Then dump it to this guy.

I dont think that most Dwarf Teams will have players with Catch and/or Ag Upgrade. And a player without NOS that has at least 1 Tackle Zone on him has a chance of fumbling the ball of 1/3 while the chance to bring down a block/dodge Dwarf would be only 1/6 (asuming St3 + 1 Assist).
So I would take Dodge over Dump Off only because of this reason...

u do realize that dump offs are still passes, and you have the -1 mods from tacklezones? this means that dump off really only works well when you're getting hit by a single player. anyway, i'd take leap dodge or stand firm on doubles, and either sure hands or strip ball on a normal. this allows you to use him on defense, as well as offense.

Yes I realize but if it's your only chance to save the ball and go to TD, i like always this idea.
Dodge is cancelled by tackle so use a double to be cancelled by a normal skill is not efficient, i think.
Leap is dangerous and don't help you to save the ball while the ennemy turn.
Dump off is a solution, who help versus strip ball, block and open the game.

But it's just my way of play ;)

right, so take stand firm instead of dodge on the double. problem solved. my only problem w/ dump off is its also a doubles roll, and i dont find it to particularly useful to toss the ball away, as this usually results in a fumbled pass or a dropped ball at best. and if you're playing dwarves correctly, your ballcarrier shouldnt be getting hit anyway.

I must agree that i don´t think dump off work that good on dwarf teams.
On elf teams its great to have but on dwarf teams it almost unusable.

Dump off don´t work in single.

Your runner nead at least Accurate, Pass or Nerves of Steel.

And what is this "Who should catch the Ball ???"

A Blitzer, a second Runner, who is also equipped with Dump off.

Or use your doubles one time usefull and give a Blitzer Catch.

So it is the old question: Build a bashy Dwarf, or a playing dwarf team.

The bashy works the first ten games, after that every enemy lineman has Block, some dirty players and the favour swings against you.

When the glitter of gold is gone, and the taste of the Beer, all what remains is the Love of a Team to its Ball !
