Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!
Some people are able to download the 2.0 beta so I think the website is fixed. If you are stil unable to get it then your browser is probably caching the old page. The problem with the old page was the 2.0 link was looking for "bbowl2_0.zip". The new link correctly looks for "Bbowl2_0.zip". The case matters on geocities websites.
Delete your browser cach or directly put this into the browser
AI? <shudder> I would have a hard time making something that would immitate a very stupid player like a troll.
How about just random moves, blocks, blitzes, passes, fouls, etc.
Hmmm...it would be interesting to watch such a game between two computer controlled teams with everything random. Total chaos, which is what blood bowl is all about!
Yeah well .. in such cases i would say it should be Artificial Stupidiness.
I think this is quite close to what happens to computer chess games. The computer has to ponder the situation, see what plays he can do, and order them from the easiest to the hardest. It is something they ask the computer science students over here, coding it on Prolog language. I've got a friend who could be interested in the development. (I will have to make him play again .. 'cos the last time he played was some 5 years ago!)
And well .. you won't have to make the AI of a Troll, but the team coach. (Same in some cases!)
I have talked with my computer geek friend, and we are planning to give it a try at the AI of this thing. First things first. We are planning some intensive play sessions this weekend so he gets up to fit again (you know, lose some weight, master dice loading and all), and resume the things the AI should calculate and matter.
He has been finishing his 'career final project'. Using AI he has developed a computerized music compositor, sensible and working .. and a music recognizer ..
He hasn't coded on Java before .. but C++ is his second language!

But it is already tresspassed, since that Java app. uses GWs graphics (board, dice ..) , names, and rules to the fact that you CAN play the game without having to BUY it. And that's what GW won't like of the java app.
We don't pretend to sell the final app.
After all, there seems to be a pc blood bowl project underway, by the guys who made Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat or Dark Omen. (I wish i could remember where did i put those games after the moving!)
I'm not a code geek, and only have sligh knowledge of java or c++, but i guess it would be nice to try it out, crediting SkyJunkie of course.
Who knows .. maybe next season at OLBBL would be played with a Java app. instead of IRC-BB !
I've added a patch game on the web site. The patch will alter the game to visually show how many block dice will be used before the block is thrown. Different colors are used to demonstrate which coach will get to choose the dice.
It also fixes a problem where sometimes the number of dice rolled was incorrect when the opposing coach gets to choose the dice.
