2nd Skil for a Mino in a norse team

Post by Circular_Logic »

I got a mino in a norseteam. The first skill-roll was a double, so I went for RSC, because it´s a good thing with MB/PO.
The mino progresses quickly and got his 2nd skill... another dbl. The TR is around 150 (this beast got 2 MVPs). Now I´m torn between claws (better than MB/PO), Stand Firm or Block.
What would you pick?

I would go Block or Spikes.

Claw is a waste as it would make having MB a waste as you cant mix skills.

Claw is pretty pointless as you've already got +1 to Av rolls, and can take Piling On for a normal skill.

Block is tempting, but its a waste of a double

Tentacles is quite good for pinning those annoying receivers.

However Leader would be my choice - unless you've got one already - because then you have to worry at lot less about turning over at the beginning of the turn.

I'd go with Leader as well cuz your Mino is a lot more reliable then and it can help the rest of the team as well.

Otherwise? Dodge (he'll get block soon after) or stand firm.

I always try and take leader on a lineman, I think it is a wasted roll on a Big Guy

It is best to have it on a player who'll stay on the pitch...

I agree it is not the best skill for a big guy, but better have it on him than not.

don´t like to take leader on a big guy either.
Would probably taken either stand firm or tentacles.

Block.

I just don't think a WA can wait until his third skill to have it. It is just too important.

I would probably take block

but Pro or Spikes wouldn't be bad either.

I'd take block - you have to look at him as he is now, not on the assumption he'll get another skill anytime soon. Even if he does advance quickly any player can go through dry patches when the MVPs go to everyone but the player you most want, and you can't seem to more than stun an opponent however hard you block. Leader or stand firm would both make him more reliable, but not as reliable as block will. Spikes makes him more defensive, but again I reckon block does this better. On top of this block is useful offensively and can lead to blocks where for once you don't have to follow up because you knock them down in the starting square or take a standoff to avoid a second block that's stacked against you.

OK... I misclicked my skillchoice, as it is a FUMBBL-team. So I got Claws. But that seemed to rip up those PO-BoBs without block quite well. As the mino did 4 cas in the next 2 games and got another MVP, he has now finaly after 7 games in total his 3rd skill wich wasn´t a dbl, so I took block.
It is the first WA, I´m trying out, and it killed my nearly every game as I roll dbl-skulls for sure in turn 8, when another player only has to do 2 steps for the final TD.
And everytime I go mad, because the leader-reroll for BGs isn´t implemented in this tool yet.
