Let us know ASAP,

Look, if need be, we can have 16 players, but then two players must sit on a comfortable sofa on a smaller table......
Well, I should discuss these things with Norse first before putting them online....

*is a qualified American Football referee and has the outfit sitting in the bathroom....*

So - are you guys going to book a bunch of rooms and we'll sort everything out when we get there or should we contact the hotel ourselves?

The point is, I don't want to order 4 two person bedrooms for $(x),- when people later don't want it for any reason.... I can arrange the above mentioned Mercure hotel in A'dam if people want to have it, but unfortunately I need a creditcard for that, which I don't have.....

That problem can be resolved easily, I know, but Norse and I thought that we would give everybody a week to respond before we would book rooms, which later people would find to expensive or something.

So, everybody can of course book himself, or let us arrange one hotel where everybody can sleep (who doesn't live in A'dam of course)

To fill in,

I'm presently working on a spreadsheet which I will send out to everyone (if I had their bloody e-mails of course!!!!) asking if they wish assistance with hotels, travel etc.. Once I know how many guys need help, I'll get more involved. Some guys are bringing their partners and will probably be staying in nice hotels.. Others might be happy in a 2-star no thrills place, so until people have given me their e-mail address, and until they've filled in the spreadsheet, I don't propose to do very much searching.. I think everyone coming will be doing so on a different budget... :-?

Any no stars, no thrills fleapits for us er...less particular types? :smoking:

Seriously, how about another run down of the format? Just re-read Lucy's post, and there's some stuff I'm unclear about.
Skills/traits and Spps:
Lucy said "Furthermore, after the first game, one random player gets a skill/trait. After the second game you get two more, after the third three, etc.... " Can we just clear this up, is this one skill per game, or increasing as Lucy suggests? If so, after the 4th game each team is going to have a total of 10 skill increases! Is this in addition to normal progression? Gulp!

"We want to try a new way to appoint the winner. The winner will be the team who accumalated the most SPP's. We would like feedback on this as well, but guess that it should be playable and keep players chances high until the last game."
Well..here's some feedback.. :P
If you go this route, I'm convinced an Agility team (probably Elves, maybe Skaven) will win it. With the lack of SPPs for crowd cas. and fouling, it's perfectly possible for a Dwarf or Orc team to win a game while accumulating less SPPs than their losing opponent. I'd hate to see cheese like Elves or Gutter Runners throwing quick passes to each other every turn to rack up the SPPs. A Dwarf team that wins 1-0 and causes one or two cas. and a load of knocked out opponents isn't going to do squat (pun NOT intended! ) otherwise. A 2-0 win surely has to count for more than a 5-3 defeat? Likewise a 4-4 draw would result in 2 very happy coaches, and possibly gain you more points than a 3-0 win. Dodgy in the extreme in my opinion. Trading TDs and racking up points can't be the way to go...
How about an SPP bonus (towards the total) for a win or something? There has to be a way to factor in SPPs while keeping an emphasis on actually winning games, not to mention shutting down opponents.

How about winnings, gate etc? Is that all dispensed with?

Arrrggghhh !!! I assumed that Deventer was a suburb of Amsterdam as I selected Amsterdam when choosing hotel location. I've been back to the web site and checked further, and Amsterdam is thataway up the A1. I'll cancel the bookings

To follow up on Deathwing's post.....

You're right, after 4 games you would get 10 skills/traits. These are the only increases you'll get, because the spp's the players accumalate will only count for the tourney winnings.

About the format...... We know it's a difficult one, but think something on this line must be possible. If it would be better to award casualties from the crowd, or from fouling (like we do in our league) then that's no problem. I like the proposal for extra (something) if you win the game, how about a d6 winnings, which you might use during the tourney, or an extra Skill/Trait roll. 5 extra SPP's sounds good to me as well.............Like we said, feedback is needed. We ourselves have problems with a format where you win the tourney because others voted you the nicest guy or best painter or something. Since we think that this way promotes playing as tough as possible for hitting teams or complete elfishness for the quicker teams, there must be a system which should keep both sides happy, but still give you chances to win the tourney after two bad games.....

I'll be on holliday from thursday till tuesday, so further problems will be handled by Norse :P

Just to add to Lucy's point, as most of you know I am a Dwarf player (may not use them in tourney of course) and I think the format actually favours hitting teams where you could lose 2-0 in TDs, but pick up 4 casualties and win the game.. It also means that the last turn takes on more significance because there are still SPPs to be picked up..

If an elf player wants to pick up an SPP every turn for a quick pass, thats OK. It means he is not picking up 3 SPPs for a TD, plus tempting the dice gods like that will usually result in a 1 when you most need a 6, so 'm OK with that too.

The reason for the format is simple, the last game on Sunday has to be as important as the first game on Saturday, otherwise only a few guys will give a crap. This way, one bad game, where you only pick up 2 or 3 SPPs doesn't matter if, in the next game, you pick up 20 odd.. i think it willmake the last few turns of the last game very, very nail biting..

I'm totally in agreement with Lucy. I'm very sorry LongFang, I'm sure you're a nice guy, great gamer and painter etc, but I fail to see how you could place 2nd at Resurrection when you lost your first 2 games! Chet came all the way from the US, won all 4 games, didn't concede a TD and didn't place!! I think that's a real flaw in the system. In Amsterdam there will be a painting prize and possibly even a nice guy prize. These will be voted on by the other gamers. They will have NO effect on who wins the tournament at the end of the day because I want to win by beating everybody. The fact I'm a great bloke who knows what a brush is for is totally immaterial. If someone wans to bring an unpainted team to the dam they are welcome to. They won't win a fancy painting prize, but they might win the tourney....

Let me know your thoughts on this...

Ta much..
