The dugouts on the ends is from playing the Blood Bowl Video Game, as that's where they always are. It makes sense to, from a fictional point of view, to keep the teams as far apart as possible. We play side by side, 2-3 boards arranged in a U shape.
As for the double row of counters, I agree that when modelling them I would only put a single row, but this is digital art. It takes very little effort to have the double row, over the singe.
The Red and Blue were to make identifying teams in a tournament easier. (table 3 Red Player...) There is a Toy and Comic Book convention that happens quarterly in my neck of the woods. I know the people who organize it and I was thinking about running a Blood Bowl Tournament, so I was taking that into consideration. It's also part of the reason I left the gap at the top, so I could fit in a Tournament Logo.
