New Custom Board

Post by Virral »

Thought I'd share my latest custom board with you guys. It was made on commission for a fellow Aussie BB coach.

Everything is done except finishing off the paint job on the coffins and lining the dice box with felt to muffle any rattles.

Image
The board folds up into a convienent carry case. It's pretty heavy, but fits easily into a car boot.

Image
Dugouts made using Hirst Arts molds and coffins from JR miniatures. The sideline ads are all from this forum, most if not all by Sp0n.

Image
A shot of the tracks and endzone. I'm really happy with how the tracks turned out, they are supposed to be like stadium seats and I think they balance out the opposing dugout really well.

That's a felt Impact pitch.

Your powers of observation astound me! :D

It is indeed an Impact pitch, with extra felt from Hotzmats around the edges to fill in the spaces.

Looks great! I agree that doing the counter tracks as grandstands are a good look and really juxtapose nicely with the dugouts on the other side.

LOOKS AMAZING!

is the pitch the same size as a standard BB board? or do you need new range rulers made up?

Standard 29mm squares (or as standard as you can get, as GW's own squares vary by a few tenths of a millimeter in either direction from 29mm) -- so yes, normal range ruler is fine.

I used two piano hinges (big long ones that is), and a router to dig a groove to set them into the wood.

I sunk them a little more than necessary, so that the top of the screws would be level with the game surface. I then filled in the top with wood filler and sanded it smooth, leaving a little grove on the hinge mechanism so it closes properly.

End result is a nice flat surface for the felt board that still closes smoothly. It's a pig of a job though, I hated every moment of it.

Is that BB sized pitch still available from impact? I can only see felt ones for their street ball game.

That is a brilliant looking board, Virral.

Thanks Quozl, I would recommend contacting Galak either through the email on the Impact website or via a PM here. I believe he probably has some left over but my understanding is a decision was made to remove them from the store to avoid conflict with GW.
