Hypnotic Gaze and Foul Appearance

Post by Oliver »

Hello,

we have played a match in our league, yesterday.

My opponent uses Elric Sidewinder for his High Elf Team and i play Nurgle.

Question is:
Have the Gaze player roll for Foul Appearance before gazing?

We decided no roll for FA, cause the Gaze is used in a move action.

I´m not sure, if this was right.
It doesn´t matter for the match, cause the Gazeplayer have lost the game.

What is your opinion?

Thank you
Oliver

No roll needed - why would it be?

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

i was not sure, if the gazing is a special attack or not.

Perhaps the arguments for not rolling for FA is not really clear, cause many skill uses are clear in the rulebook.
I didn´t find a clear description, so i was not sure.

But it is only my point of view, for me it is okay.

Foul Appearance (Mutation)
The player’s appearance is so horrible that any opposing player that
wants to block the player (or use a special attack that takes the place of
a block)
must first roll a D6 and score 2 or more.

Hypnotic Gaze (Extraordinary)
The player has a powerful telepathic ability that he can use to stun an
opponent into immobility. The player may use hypnotic gaze at the end
of his Move Action
on one opposing player who is in an adjacent square.

Foul appearance only effects blocks or special attacks that take place of a block. Gaze is part of a move action, not a block, therefore is not effected.
