Is it too late to nominate Grum for Naf tourney director?

I agree with Simon. Its the organisation not the ruleset.Darkson wrote:What's wrong with the current system?
Is it perfect? No.
Is it different? No.
Does it need to be? No.
Why make things more complicated, especially for those that aren't BB tourney regulars?
Personally, I vote for keeping skills + team TV the same as it is, though I'd be happy for a tweak of the scoring system.

I like this suggestion. Like the new scoring system. Would prefer 115 or 120 with the selected skills up front. Like the fact that you're keeping the semi/final, makes it unique and much better with the scoring adjustment. Like the fact that Dave is running it again. Like the fact Grum can't attendGrumbledook wrote: 4 Skills:

No skills after each game?
For those who can't be bothered to download ... 1.1m, you can buy players with either 1 or 2 skills for 20K per skill. The number of such players you can buy is limited by race. So for example Amazons/Dwarfs etc. can have up to 3, High Elf/Underworld up to 5.

Re: The Spiky club Open 2010, 9th/10th Ocober 2010 Reading,
You are correct, no skills after games..
we were looking for balance within the tournament, allowing players to hone their team so it can match all opponents seemed the best way to allow the best players to win an event, as opposed to just being lucky with a good basic team. a degree of skill is needed in the team selection proses as well as the games itself.

Re: The Spiky club Open 2010, 9th/10th Ocober 2010 Reading,
It's a nice aim. However, the only teams that can afford to take advantage of it are Amazons/Dwarfs etc. The teams with the higher allocation will have to spend all their money on players and rerolls. That's my initial reaction anyway. I'll run through some test rosters to check before I say any more.
But here is a horrendous sample roster:
Amazons => 3 Blitzers w/ Guard + Stand Firm, 1 Blitzer, 1 Catcher, 8 Linewomen, 3 RRs.
Most teams simply will not be able to deal with that.

Hi Guys
Have you got any idea's about what you would like to do for evening entertainment.
I have secured the social club for the evening along with the subsidised bar. is that enough, do you want music, board games, Wii...

Re: The Spiky club Open 2010, 9th/10th Ocober 2010 Reading,
Rulespack looks good, and the rules themselves are intresting not like any tourney ive played before, should liven things up a bit.
I dont quite understand the line about not taking the same combination of skills, would that mean you couldlt take block twice on i.e. a human catcher & Lineman or does it take into account the starting skills as well, meaning that as long as they are not the same then its ok?So you have a lineman with Block, Catcher with block, catch, dodge?

Re: The Spiky club Open 2010, 9th/10th Ocober 2010 Reading,
I think the ruleset is great apart from the team value. Give teams 1.2mil and it should work out alot better. Restricting the players that can have skills (rather than the number of skills) is a great way to restrict the guard machines but the other teams need enough cash that they can buy skills and a proper team.
I would also recommend changing some of the team star limits but thats just personal preference. I would consider...
Humans (4)
Khemri (6)
Humans are cheap and run a very effective guard machine. Khemri got absolutely shafted by the latest version of the rules... they could buy 6 guards but it wouldnt be a "guard machine" so much as a "lots of guard but they're still poor".

Agree with Silly Sod. Chaos can barely get a sem decent team for 1.1 mll let alone skill up 6 players but at the cost of the team going down to 1.08
And joemanj - no repeat combos. But Guard+frenzy, Guard+mighty blow and Guard+stand firm or tackle makes it nasty!!
Social side is the area that could do with the most improvement though....

I've just downloaded the Final Rules Pack and had a quick look through, I couldn't see the line regarding no repeat combinations of skills
Has this been taken out? or am I missing something?

Guess who's got a Chaos team for Spiky...Podfrey wrote:Chaos can barely get a sem decent team for 1.1 mll let alone skill up 6 players but at the cost of the team going down to 1.08

Was struggling with a semi-decent team (to at least beat the other ARBBLers with) with the old rules.
