Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!
I have worked long and hard to develop a balanced rule-set for my rock team. That aside it does seem that there has been alot of questions about if any of the teams are balanced. To be honest with you all are and none are. I think it comes down to two things, coaching and luck. There is a gentleman in our league that plays his orcs the way they are supposed to be played, and is blessed with lucky dice. So I could say that Orcs are unbalanced, but then I have played another coach that while still coaches well, isnt blessed in the dice, so my CD put a hurtin on him. Are some of the teams scary to go up against...well yeah, but that's part of the fun of the game is when you go up against them and acutally do well. Besides, its a game, a means of having a good time with good friends and doing a little damage in the mean time..... So don't sweat the stunty stuff....

I've said before that I thought Orcs we're one of the best teams in the game stat wise, but by no means are they a dominating force all the time. I agree with Zombie that the options available to the Orcs are some what better than those for most other teams, with S4 players, gobbos, good throwers, all-around blitzers, excellent Big Guy ally choices and Star Players. Plus, they're cheap, and have good AG on all their players but BOs.
Sure lots of newbies play orcs, they come in the box, and that drags down their win records. But if it was true that Orcs are all powerful, wouldn't some of those newbs stick with 'em when they realized this?
A game of Blood Bowl depends on more than good stats. You need a plan that will take advantage of those stats and the ability to adapt to your opponents suprises. But half the game is luck with those dice.
And thats what makes it more fun than rock-paper-scissors.
