Hey, if I want to jump on a running chainsaw that's my buisness. Just cos I'm a super star, no-one said I was cleverBig Ahn wrote:Does anyone else see serious repercussions by giving a chainsaw to a guy with Piling On?Darkson wrote:Oh, and a chainsaw if I get my way

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

nah i like em the way they are...it's pretty rare to see people take them now anyway, given the lack of $$ and the freeboot only bit.snotsngrots wrote:Why don't we, instead, get rid of the SPs altogether. Relegate them to legend status and tell stories about them but keep them off the pitch.
They're still available, but you know when you see one it's kinda a special event.
This of course is not counting the goblin stars, which are of course not stars at all but convenient vehicles for their secret weapons.

I'd like to see the Star Players go - I've always felt they had too strong an influence on the game, especially in the bad old days when 'Count Luthor' seemed to be the focus of every game with the humans or undead.
I guess I've always been against the whole team-revolves-around-one-super-player effect - it's something that tends to happen in GW games a bit. BB is a game about a team sport - it should emphasise team tactics.

I thought not being clever was generally a pre-requisite for Blood Bowl starsDarkson wrote:Hey, if I want to jump on a running chainsaw that's my buisness. The short answer is "no", but it is a qualified "no" because there are odd ways of interpreting the question which could justify the answer "yes".

I just wish the rules for Big Guys were around in the first league I played. We used the Star Players as common trolls and ogres. A human team managed to have two ogres (Morg) on his tem. Needless to say, by the end of the league his team rating was well over 200 and he demolished everyone.
As for the Norse, I recall the Snow troll and werewolf from the Journal a number of years ago. Always wanted to customize a Ripper into a snow troll.

Oh it got worse than that...if you had let it keep going you would have seen what we had in our 3rd ed league. Humans with 2 morgs and 2 luthors...orcs with 4 morgs....chaos with 3 morgs and a grashnak, etc. My Wood elves had 3 Deeproots. It got to the point where the stars were the team and the rest of the guys (the guys YOU made) were just extras. There needed to be a change...the way it is now is much better. Stars are there for flavor, but they are only used for VERY rare and special occasions. Just the way it should be imo.Breten wrote:I just wish the rules for Big Guys were around in the first league I played. We used the Star Players as common trolls and ogres.
