Funnily enough I'd consider Chaos a very flexible team. Everyone is AG3 so can handle the ball. Everyone is S4 blitzing, so can blitz. Everyone has decent or good armour.

The current mutations really assist in that as well since its easy to build specialist players to handle the ball or provide greater flexibility.

So you have a lot of options in terms of build and tactics. That's what I'd call flexibility.

I'm happy to agree they aren't good in a low TV environment (they've about a .400 record at NAF tournaments, so your .050 is bad even by Chaos standards ;)) but they are one of the better teams once they get going.

Break Tackle on chaos warrior????

They have AG3 , Breack tackle would give them AG4 for dodge? Not much advantage IMHO.
We are looking for small buffs

Some things I've thought about are:

-- 0-2 Beastmen Blitzers with Horns, Block // GS access for 90K

-- 0-2 Beastmen Mutants with Horns && 1 mutation of your choice for 90K

-- Pro on all Chaos Warriors for free

-- Thick Skull on all Beastmen for free

I'm not sure if any of the above are really good though for what I think you guys want. The new positionals are costly so you can't start with 4CW / 3 RRs / AND have the positionals ...

Pro & Thick Skull make the team better in the beginning but they're also better at high TV so that may not be right either for you guys.

Still think we should go for a lesser beastman.

7247 GAPM/S pass 60k

Or something like that.

why ? you dont want that player around "later" anyway, when chaos is up to speed. You just want to have a reliable (i.e can pick up the ball, and get it somewhere safe) when you start.

Maybe give him horns for the sake of it, but the last thing Chaos needs is another heavy hitter, or a boost to their Warriors (who are already quite good). You want to give them a boost in the ball handling department in the beginning.

Besides, posting "a nice joke" isnt really helpful. Looks like you're just trolling.

Not trolling.

Adding this player 7247 GAPM/S pass 60k will break the team big time, all in my opinion.

This will be a monster blitzer when he gets Horns and Block. Add Nerves of Steel to some players and tacklezone is no problem, just take the ball on a 2+, then dodge on a 2+ (even in two tacklezones if you add Two Heads).

As I see it - it's totally broken! Leaping on a 2+ with Very Long Legs, just to add mote to good stuff.

The team just need to have Block and Stand Firm on the warriors and then it will be very hard to take down thier ballcarrier.

Developing one to a great thrower and use Extra Arms on other beastmen will make the team go the route long way from what a chaos team is.

Now, THAT is a useful post. :D

So, we drop access to M and S then, and make him AP/G.

Basically, as I see it, Caos could do with a (small) specialist for retrieving the ball, and passing it along. Makes for a nice change to the "well, since I dotn have any skills, I might as well be bashing" start all the chaos teams seem to have.

While it might not break undeveloped chaos, I tremble at what this would do to a developed chaos team.
Thats a No thanks from me personally.

I wouldn't add the AG4 guy either, because it does make the team stronger, but broken? Nah. If that was true, every Chaos team that rolled a couple 11's on skill rolls would be unstoppable.

No specialisation means you'll be fumbling the ball alot. Lack of much speed means Elves will simply outrun you. Lack of skills means even a 2 dice block will often go against you.

Just try playing a rookie Chaos team. You'll see what I mean. Spending two or three turns trying to pick up that ball, getting only a single block (blitz) in per turn, having the ball snatched from you time and time again because the opposing team can dodge into your backfield with immense reliability and there's very little you can do to stop it.

You can't even bash them to the ground most of the time. S4 is overrated in this case because the team simply can't use it until it starts getting Block left right and center.

If I had my way Chaos Warriors would start with Block. But the devs say no. Other teams are allowed to start with Blodge, others with non-Big Guy S5 with Mighty Blow. But apperently S4 Block is too much, even if we'd have to pay through the nose for it.

Oh, and S3 Block + 1 assist = S4 Block. Which teams like Wood Elves can do very easily, so even if you did pick up the ball they'll just invade your backfield and get the ball back off you. Wonderful.

Course, people will say that starting with S4 Block at the start is overpowered in a league. So I'd say make Mutations a doubles choice on Warriors, and make them 140,000 each. Thus they can grind up the pitch early on, as they are supposed to, and later on they'll cost so much that you'll hit high team value even if you don't have all four of them.

That's just too much of a crutch where Chaos are weakest anyway - faster more agile player.

I think the consensus is that the boost needs to be early in the team life - so therefore it needs to be a cheap, relatively disposable player; a reduction in cost to existing players; or a "short term" improvement to existing players.

Short term improvement might be N random skills on beastmen in line with your chosen diety (Khorne - from Frenzy, Piling On, Mighty Blow, Tackle, Nurgle - Foul Appearance, Disturbing Presence, etc)

Dropping the price of beastmen would make a huge difference, warriors at 90k would feel like a discount for the profile and a cheaper mino probably wouldn't make much short term difference. So on pricing it would really be 60k rerolls

I have played Chaos teams many times and I'm really looking forward to June when I'll be playing them some more. No one is arguing that Chaos aren't difficult early on. Chaos are by the worst of the tier 1 teams at low TVs/tournament play. However your experience is particularly bad. To get the most out of Chaos you need to have a fine appreciation for risk management, turn sequencing and when to use rerolls.

These are skills other teams need as well, but some are a lot more forgiving than others.
