I agree 100% with traveller. Let people advertise all they want. And if some uninformed folk put a wrong label to a highly sought-after mini and it doesn't find the audience it deserves on e-bay, well, power to the buyer then!
... and perhaps there could be less topics on this board along the lines of "look at this auction, that guy is sooo stupid, but we are sooo smart"
Bottom line: ALL of your gaming minis are basically worthless. They are not made of rare material. They are not the works of famous artists. They can be reproduced ad nauseam at very little cost to the producer. Thus, there are no really "rare" minis. But to a collector, a hunk of cheap white alloy is indeed valuable, and, as e-bay proves time and again, a lot of people put a lot of money into their hobby. Well spent, I say, but never a clever investment if you are looking for profit.

not strictly true on many points. The older models cannot be produced, at least at the same quality (not recasts), as the moulds are lost/destroyed/too old. So in that respect they are technically rare. It's like saying original old fashioned Bentleys aren't rare, for example. Sure Bentley can remake them but they won't be original old bentleys!boondog wrote: Bottom line: ALL of your gaming minis are basically worthless. They are not made of rare material. And nothing is worthless so long as there is a buyer willing to pay for it. Something is only worthless when no-one wants to pay money for it. And that's only considering monetary worth, let alone sentimental value etc.

Yeah.....
Economists call it 'utility.' I believe.
Ask someone how much a glass of water is worth?
Ask them the same question if they are in a desert, and the answer should be different?
Unless they're suffering from really bad dehydration.... and their voice is gone....in which case they might try and explain by drawing in the sand... unless... oh you get the idea!
