I wonder why the NAF logo wasn't used? The world with spike logo is not one I've seen before. Is that a new NAF logo?

It's the logo from the first World Cup.

Ok, at least it has some history then. I still think the actual NAF logo would have been better though.

Re: 2013 NAF Dice Announcement on thenaf.net
First time I'd seen them, and I'm not overly fond of those dice to be honest. They're just the same colour, not really a matching set IMO. Funnily I'd rather see a matching set of d6 offered, than a set including a d8 and d16 that don't match. (call me crazy)
I for one am onboard the 'do your own custom block dice' train. I'm sure they could break out a kickstarter if they need some initial capital to get it rolling. Although gvien the depth of feeling some people seem to have around the NAF, maybe there'd be gunfights to decide on the symbols used.

I'm not 100% sure I understand you Greedy. How could the dice be made to be more matching?
Is it the fact that the font isn't the same on all the dice?

The font is not the same. Three dice types, and everyone has a different "3" in the photos. A matching set is expected to share the same style, by definition of "matching".
Different brands for D8 and D16? No try to make the D6 match any of the others?
It could be worse, different color mix pattern, and all them unreadable.

I'm guessing (and it is just my guess) that GW didn't give them a lot of notice, and that this was a bit of a rush job.

They look alright. I quite like them. The NAF logo would have been nice on the 6.
It's just not the same excitement as the block dice though.
Now GW aren't involved there is no reason why the NAF committee can't use another supplier. In fact I'd be looking for quotes asap for next years effort.

If you customized all faces of a d8, d16, and 2d6, there wouldn't be much margin on a $10/£5 "sale."
I agree that the NAF need to plan ahead for next year, but should probably hold off until September to see which rumors hold true. Unless they're already in the know, that is.

The dice are a free gift with membership.

I think that most people see NAF membership as a free gift that comes with purchase of dice. Membership to NAF offers very little to most people, with a few exceptions for certain geographical locations.Joemanji wrote:The dice are a free gift with membership.

I don't think anyone suggested all the faces should be customised, just that the dice were all the same style.Gaixo wrote:If you customized all faces of a d8, d16, and 2d6, there wouldn't be much margin on a $10/£5 "sale."

Re: 2013 NAF Dice Announcement on thenaf.net
People were talking about matching fonts, which I think you might struggle to do without customizing most of the dice. And you'd probably be trying to match the font on the d16 (which isn't very attractive, in my opinion), as it has the most sides and only seems to come in one style.
My point being that matching dice in that way is probably more trouble than it would be worth.
