Re: Block Around the Clock VII, Near Newcastle (23rd June, 2
I so want to come to another BATC. The last time I went it was epic.
Issues :
1. Getting up at 6am Saturday
2. Getting from Newcastle Station to the venue at 1030 am
3. Persuading myself that 24hrs of goblins won't leave me gibbering.
Anyone help with these? (especially #2)
Pete

Getting from Newcastle to Blyth is not an issue!
There are several Scots discussing coming on Facebook, all of which will be in the same position as you. I’ve suggested one of three options.
1. Buses take about 45 minutes.
2. A taxi is about £20-25. Split it’s not much more than bus fare.
3. If you can get there early enough I’m happy to come pick people up from the station. I also have to be at the venue to set up and admin the team draw too so it can’t be too late.
Either way, it’s an easy one to coordinate nearer the time once people are getting ready to book travel.
Be class to have you come along Pete. And the fact your considering Goblins means I must have done something right with the new tiered rules!!!

I had planned on pestering my wife for a lift but in the interest of getting folk to Blyth I may as well just drive.
Newcastle Central Station is a minor dogs leg for me so I'm more than happy to ferry up to three (four might be a squeeze) north if it helps people attend.
Also that way Dave is free to stay in Blyth (the lucky duck) to get things sorted.

I'm driving from Darlington and should have space for three people (Reckless says he's interested) so happy to help with transport too. Might even be able to pick up you tablet...provided you can prove you have a painted team...

I guess we'll wait and see how many folk require lifts and we figure it out from there.
Fingers crossed Reckless can attend too.

Okay. I've worked out how to get there.
I'm enjoying metagaming myself with the rules. (Nice tiering)
Now I just need to earn enough wife points...

Lots of exciting news, and a bit of BATC History for those considering Stunty in the new rules...
• With ‘TheJimintheNorth’s payment we now have half the minimum number of required entrants paid up! Plenty of space for more and lots of interest from various areas!
• The 24 playlist has also been compiled and downloaded! An eclectic mix indeed, with a couple of suspect choices that snuck in but an absolute tonne of amazing music! Plus, if you don’t like it then you’ve only got yourself to blame! Everyone who has paid so far contributed to it so thank them!
And for the history lovers out there, I had a look at how Stunty teams have fared over the years at Block Around The Clock. Turns out we have had all three Stunty races represented on more than one occasion, with a total of eight Stunties over the ears. Here they are in order of success.
(With revised tiering of teams and new rules for skills this year, there seems to be a few people considering having a bash at Stunty. Could be an ideal people chance to top the list!)
1. Phil78’s Halflings (2/2/7 @ BATC II)
2= Peo2223’s Ogres (2/1/8 @ BATC IV)
2= PolarBear’s Goblins (2/1/8 @ BATC II)
4. Chanka’s Halflings (1/3/7 @ BATC III)
5. EldritchFox’s Goblins (1/2/8 @ BATC III)
6. Marley’s Halflings (0/2/9 @ BATC I)
7. Lister’s Ogres (0/1/10 @ BATC III)
8. Ruthy’s Halflings (0/0/11 @ BATC IV)
***Did You Know...? PolarBear’s BATC Goblin nightmare must have been so bad it was his last ever tournament! We broke him in August 2012 and he’s never been seen since!

Based on Rob's speed, I assumed he was still playing in this tourney!Don__Vito wrote:***Did You Know...? PolarBear’s BATC Goblin nightmare must have been so bad it was his last ever tournament! We broke him in August 2012 and he’s never been seen since!

His slow speed was great, as after DonVito and I finished our game in 35 mins, I managed to get a sneaky 2 hrs kip in before my PolarBear game. Best 2 hrs sleep I have ever had...
