I was absolutely staggered by how much fun the World Cup was, how smoothly everything went, and most of all what a relaxed and friendly atmosphere I experienced the entire weekend. I met so many people who I'd only ever known online, and hundreds of people who I had never even heard of. Every game was a lot of fun, Every round was challenging. I drew some games that I probably should have lost, lost some that I maybe could have won, and at the end of the weekend I had a reasonable 2-4-3 record.
More importantly, the entire tournament was a week-long reminder of how much fun our silly game can be, and a perfect demonstration that no matter how much of a crazy nerd you feel sometimes, there are far crazier nerds out there

Complaining about minor details feels nitpicky - sure, driving in the old city part of Lucca is stressful, and the app didn't have a search function ... but that's not what we'll all remember. The organization was basically flawless, everybody found their tables on time, you always knew where to go, and we played badly enough and sat far enough back that we were always close to the bar. Perfection! And a massive, massive THANK YOU to the organizers, Lucca, and everyone who made this the best Blood Bowl weekend of my life.
The only real loser is whoever hosts World Cup IV and has to try to top this. Good luck with that!
