Re: Sukubus Team
but whats your point? your wife loves these. i just asked my wife to give an opinion and she said, "these look like they are made for 14 year old boys. why not just make a series of striper models to oggle?"
she thinks they are "inappropriate for a game of "football".
and shes not a "moron". you need to not call other members names.glowworm and i don't want this at our events. i have women there. i have kids there. i have their parents there who may not think a bb figure squeezing her titties is ok for there kids.

I do feel better.Waldorf28 wrote:No-one is going to change anyone's mind here. We all have our firmly held opinions, and if rational debate didn't cut it, getting all angry and starting to call people names certainly won't.
What's the point? Unless you feel better for getting it off your chest.
rawr.
You can have no idea just how offensive and misogynistic I find it to know that my wife has to reevaluate the teams she collects and paints to take to tournaments knowing that some of the fine gentleman here would show her the door ffor not fitting into their narrow view of what a woman should be and how she should think or behave.
But I am sure that you all don't care.
My point is quite simply that the men here are telling her how to behave based on their own ideal. Be offended. But don't expect that to mean anything.
All you do is turn people away from wanting to be part of your community.

Re: Sukubus Team
I'm most offendeded by the fact that the sculptors felt they needed to apologise if they "offended" anyone, they do not need to apologise for a sukubus team which "does exactly what it says on the tin".
I love the team, I have backed the team despite already having a dark elf team on the painting table and an amazon team I am awaiting production.
I don't want to be told how I should feel about the team, and not feel that people might be offended if I take them to a tournament, because I'm an adult and so are most bloodbowl players, they are models not porn.
I appreciate they are not to everyone's taste but I don't like high elves and actually haven't seen many male elf models that I like it is a personal taste, I would never tell anyone they could not bring a certain team to one of our tournaments.
Anyway good luck with the sukubus project.

Re: Sukubus Team
I actually like the idea of a Succubus team, but I want a team that looks like it's about to play a hard-hitting game, not a bunch of stripper poses, and I want models that won't break, which these look like they will.
1, 2, 4 and 5 look ok-ish, thougH I'd be concerned by the tails, high heels and spikes. 3 and 6 are just crap.

Re: Sukubus Team
And I would strongly suggest that if there are any particular models which don't fit in with anyone's incredibly Victorian system of morals, that they should make this clear when and if they decide to host an event/tournament.
I say this as it has never, never, arisen in any other game system we have been a part of, but now I feel that it is the status quo within the BB scene, and I find that utterly appalling.
If you are unwilling to welcome gamers because they own miniatures you find distasteful, then you should make your beliefs clear to them before hand.
I would be mightily irked to travel down south to a tournament only to have my wife told to use proxy models or leave. That simply would not pass.
So please, when posting details of an event ensure that your rulespack includes details of what is acceptable in all regards. For instance, if you find lapdancing to be derogatory then I need to know that, because Ruth is a lapdancer, it's a job she loves. But it'd be horrible for her to have to endure the derogatory attitudes of some here, some who find it unacceptable for a female to sculpt saucy female miniatures.
If models like this are unacceptable, then make it known. I'd suggest you also include a dress code, obviously shoulders should be covered and skirts a finger length below the knee.
That may all sound incredibly out of order, but I'm not the one who decided to make this a thread about who will be shown the fcuking door!
I'll be petitioning the new NAF tournament director to bring such issues into the mix when applying for approval:
''Will there be a moral code in place regarding miniatures, and will players be shown the door for offending your morals? yes/no''
and strongly suggesting that discriminatory tournaments be knocked back with no appeal.
I've enjoyed being part of this community for the past two years, and Ruth has even more so than I, but the attitudes championed in this thread make us believe that we don't fit in and are not welcome.

Balls this was intended to turn you on. Look in her eyes and tell me that she does not want to get in your shorts.puzzlemonkey wrote:It's a question of intent, style, and in this case, of venue. I am re reading the entire thread and frankly its more heat than light at the moment. They are a bloodbowl team ffs. I don't like em others do, I am not about to go to the barracades over this

Yeah, you're right to call me on this. I shortened this from a longer and much wider-ranging survey of art, complete with Michelangelo's David, which ultimately didn't make any point at all..
I was trying to convey the idea that the models here are fairly porn-y, which probably didn't need any real evidence.
I agree that there's nothing left to say about the rest of this once the name-calling has begun.

Then there is this, perhaps one of the most homo-erotic bronzes ever made. Who needs the Hawkeye Initiative when you have Donatello.

What the heck is "porn" anyway?
Who was that fool that quipped before a less than august body, "I cahnt deefine it, but I know when I see it!"
Weren't the 80's a blast?
And, yes, those were all rhetorical questions....

Well as is all too often the case on the internet, the most extreme opinions get the lion's share of the attention.Heff wrote: I am re reading the entire thread and frankly its more heat than light at the moment. Re: Sukubus Team
Did I start this discussion off by leaping onto a soapbox to decry these miniatures and declaring that anyone owning them should and would be excluded from the group based on the sensibilities of a few?bound for glory wrote:drama much?
No. But several here did and have offered nothing but weak reasons based on their own ideal of what women should or should not be offended by to exclude fellow gamers (and paying customers) from their company.
Please. Explain how I should be happy to learn that your morals must dictate the behaviours of others?
I don't like these mini's. The sculptor knows that. They do not appeal to me. But I'll stand up for her right to sculpt them, and for others right to enjoy them, to death.
But to exclude people because you are offended on the opposite sexes behalf?
Please.
