Being in a remote location with little local support for the game, I myself and attempting to find value in the $10 I spend every year. Granted, I'm perfectly fine with the compromise that the NAF has proposed. I am curious as to where this will take the Org and the community at large now.

After seeing the new dice, I hope we go back to some form of block dice next year.

The Spanish foro block dice are the nicest alternate design I've seen.
Image
Maybe someone could have a word with the designer? I'd love to see those in a different color every year.

Too many of the alternate block dice I've seen are overly stylized and stray too far from the iconic look of the originals.

I like the looks of those, but not being a lawyer, I do wonder if you need to stray further from the "iconic" GW block dice to avoid IP problems. :-?

ip and copyright are funny things
#1 the 10% rule
all you have to do is change an object by 10% or more (look at the freakin thieves GW are)
#2 the cannot copyright arrows/skulls/stars they may argue the !star and the both down but again change that by 10% ....
#3 they cannot copyright a d6 or a d6 with images on it
in no way shape or form is any thought of IP or copyright infringed upon with the above picture.
The world is rife with extremely close simlys and guess what they go on
If GW wanted to waste the money to attempt a C&D they would loose hands down. One can simply say "go take a hike" and laugh at them for the pathetic attempt of bulling.
We have trademarks and copyrights and know full well what people can do to alter them and make a legal simly.

Example:
no> BloodBowl Blocking Dice
yes> Block Dice

no> Defender Down
yes> Both Down

no> (image) Skull on Top left of Star
yes> (Image)Skull on Bottom right of star (may alter skull or star)

I like the Spanish dice, though in use I find the pow and ! faces can be a little unclear, especially on the other side of the table.

I don't know about the arguement that you need only change 10% and it's ok. People seem to think that applies to the images on the dice, but the fact remains that if you have; a skull, a skull with star/explosion, 2 sides with some sort of arrows, a star/explosion with an "!", and a star/explosion, that can only be used for one game - Blood Bowl (doesn't matter what the symbols look like as long as they conform to the block die pattern stated above). Just as you can't use Heroquest dice for any other game, certainly not BB and vica-versa, it would be hard to argue that alternate block dice could be used for any FF football game (can't be used for elfball, Dreadball, Grind, etc). So just because there haven't been any C&D letters going out yet to producers of alternate block dice, doesn't mean that Granny won't try to go after them in the future.

Well, I'd assume companies like Chessex do their homework, so I'm taking their advise other yours.

Paid for by the law offices of Loonie and Shaman.

I've worked for companies which have gone thru issues with copyright/trademark infringement. I learned one thing and one thing only.

Don't ever assume you know what the other party is going to do.

Don't use spanish dice!! Use basque dice!! LOL

Now seriously I think Bilibali Cups set of dices is much more nice than that one.

They have done them in two of three diferent colours, I love the bone ones!

Not really a fan of these. I find on a few of the custom dice such as these the pow symbol looks really small. Just my opinion.

I've always liked the Bilbali dice, but think the Spanish dice are a cleaner design. Don't like the F.O.T. set very much (although I own a few of them).

There are obviously many options, and I hope the NAF allows some input from their membership before making a decision.

Why? Is it because you only saw value in paying for the new coloured Block dice? Or are you angry at the NAF for what has happened? Some other reason?

I'm interested in knowing what prompted this reaction.
It's because the block dice were the only reason I ever registered in the first place. I like collecting BB merch including many and varied block dice colors. To be honest, I can't think of a single benefit to being registered that I would pay money for, now that the block dice aren't continuing.

Just to be clear, I don't blame them for what's happened. My statement wasn't meant as some sort of act of retribution. I'm sure NAF guys did everything they could. I feel sorry for them and all that. I just don't however feel sufficiently sorry for them to pay money for a service that I personally see no value in.

I imagine a lot of people will feel the same as me. Registration numbers in the coming year will demonstrate this one way or another.
