Then, if I am not right, would not be the correct answer (especially coming froom an Administrator) something like: "No, you are not right, it is nothing against Spaniards. I also criticize English figures, etc", instead of putting that kind of signature? I think that instead of avoiding more conflict, you are aggravating it.Darkson wrote:Yep, I and a couple of others got called anti-Spanish for criticising a sculpt by a Spainard (or something like that).

Mephisto is the only person that's ever tried to turn criticism into an anti-country thing, so it's all his fault, and if as a PM suggests, my sig is being discussed by Spanish BB coaches, perhaps Mephisto should say why he tried to turn legitimate criticism ("melons") into a nationalistic thing.
I've criticised sculpts from UK and US sculptors (and probably others), yet I've never had anyone go "you don't like [example] the Perrys' figures? You must be anti-British."
what you say is falseNorse wrote: I love the way the Spanish are happy to tell us there is no IP or copyright laws in Spain, so they can break other countries laws and laugh about it,
of course, you attack, offends, insults all Spanish brands , you do not have education or respect . Many brands do not want to post in this forum , is logical .Norse wrote: but then get all nationalistic and defensive when someone calls them out on it...

The point is that Willy has made a review of an existing -though discontinued- miniature...if you don't like it, that's ok...but don't point the IP laws only when you don't like the miniature because tons of miniatures you like are plagiarism too...
Don't make this a nationalism problem...

OK , but to be continue in next model Willy-miniaturesinkpwn wrote: FINALLY!

There were people, who pointed out the hypocrisy of criticising Willy for ripping off Thrudd but making no comment on others doing exactly the same thing to GW or large corporations. Someone even pointed out that the company that has the right to produce “official” Thrudd models also has models that are blatant copies of Dr Who and other characters from sci fi films/TV.Xac wrote:Of course there are IP laws in spain...but we didn't hear a word when Greebo produced their ninja turtles (and TMNT do have IP), neither when Impact! produced Chibi Dungeon Explorers and Urban Archievers (and Dungeons&Dragons have IP and so does Great Lewosky), and only when Willy made his own view of Thrudd, the crowd though on its IP, but not when White Dwarf showed us their first plagiarism of Conan the Barbarian -renamed Thrudd-....and the list could go on with many hasslefree's miniatures "inspired" in cinema stars, almost all the vampire miniatures we see are plagiarism from the old Hammer's Dracula films and the original Murnau's Nosferatu, and many many more...

Hi Darkson and everybody,Darkson wrote:My issue with it (Lewdgrip) isn't IP - you can rip GW off as much as you like as far as I'm concerned. My issue with it's a blantant copy of a really poor figure. With the obvious talent Willy has, he could have produced a much better, yet recognisable, figure - he's shown that with the Chaos figures here (which if I'd had the money, I'd have brought).
Now if that critism is anti-Spanish, so be it.
Got your point, so I've edited my message. I still don't like it, but just for the sake of going back to the matter here.Corvidius wrote:Norse may well have been kidding, large smiley face at the end of the message normally suggests that.
I think it's possibly easy for English speakers like myself to forget that there's folks reading whose first language isn't English. We use slang terms etc without really thinking about it.
But anyway, back to the mini. Still loving it.
