It's Greebo's Taxi Toad. I got him from Impact:

I've considered it, but I don't think it's right for a player. I plan to use one for my coach, but he's just a bit too static for my tastes on the pitch :)

I've looked very hard to find a suitable similar looking and age figure for the Krox, and so far no luck! As it is, the starting team is 11 slann and the krox will be a later addition to the squad. I'll keep looking - some of those old trolls have potential.
I was about to say that an older Troll with the frog head would look pretty close, and the model would be 50%+ a GW model...

Do GW actually run any tournaments anymore?
The German "DungeonBowl" at Duesseldorf is a GW-miniatures-only-GW-BB-Tournament.
BTW... at this years Dungeon Bowl i played against a Slann Team converted from the GW plastic human minis! :o

Hardly to believe, but they are really converted from those old plastic miniatures!!

the Kermit face totally changes those guys. The rest seems a fairly straight forward (brilliant concept) conversion.

I cracked open the paints and gave one of the frogs a test paint scheme:

Image

I wanted the skin to be the focal point, and decided on a bright orange rather than a traditional green or turquoise. The strip is simple white and blue, with the odd bit of gold detailing (not so much on this player, but probably more apparent on other figures with more bling). I'll probably keep the human catcher black with highlights like I did with my Wood Elf Wardancer (see this thread: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=31931).

The big questions:

1) What colour do I paint the feather? I'm inclined to go for more blue, but any suggestions gratefully received (yellow? green?)

2) How do I base these guys? I'm a fan of the fresh green grass bases, but I could do something swampy here with reeds and water effects.

Hope you like!

I would paint the feather in lots of different colours to make it look "exotic" - birds of paradise are all kinds of colour mixes and come from very similar jungles to Lustria

PS I like the colour scheme for the frog, very different from the normal slann options..

I think the skin color looks ace, though to me it comes across more terracotta than orange (which is a GOOD thing).

If I ever get arond to painting my Slann I'm thinking of going the multi-coloured, poisonous frogs route (oranges, blues, yellows, etc).

You may not want to see these in the flesh then - he's pretty orange in real life. Black undercoat, macharius foundation orange, baal red wash, blazing orange, golden yellow highlight. Definitely more orange than terracotta :s

I do like that look, but I also like a colour scheme to be consistent, so all my guys will be the same frog species :)

So...feather...

I spent a good amount of time googling bird of paradise headdresses and kept seeing these great blue-green feathers, like this one:

So I went with something which paid homage to it:

I've started painting a few of the Linemen - hope to have them to show you later this week :)
