All I can say is good luck. They are a fan favorite and were pretty scarce when they were in print. Keep searching ebay and maybe you will get lucky, but I'm sorry to say they are few and far between.
Best of luck.

One set should go on Ebay this month. We had a store close and ask us if we would buy back the stock. There was a weather goblin set in the inventory as I sorted through the box.

Well it seems this is your lucky day, although I'm not sure how I feel about it having bought what I thought was a limited edition set of five back when they were released originally.

Impact have done a fairly stealthy re-release the Weather Goblins, and are now saying that it was only the suit wearing "Perfect" goblin that was limited, not the full set of five.

I am not used to say something bad about impact because I was always a happy customer. As a collector, I was hooked on buying also the limited stuff from impact.

I was under the impression that the full set was limited and that it was stated in that way.

Making the annoucement that only that one fig was limited sounds a little dogdy to me. I think EVERYONE was under the impression that the total set was limited and bringing the set out again is making money of the good reactions on the set.

That breaks it for collectors and we all know that Tom is a collector as well so strange that this happens.

I am curious to his reaction.

In summary:

As a collector I expect something I purchased to be something I cannot purchase again. For me as a collector if one of the 5 figures is permanently retired and the figures are not sold individually that means the original set is still limited to me. You'll never be able to purchase that set as it is of the figures again since one of them is permanently retired.

The second thing is the price you are paying. If you pay a premium price you want that value protected. The new set sells for more than the last set.

Bottom line as a collector ... I am okay with this. I understand someone might disagree. Open offer ... anyone who purchased these figures only because they were limited edition I'm happy to buy the figures back and pay for the shipping.

We are also emailing the 9 people that bought sets from us on Ebay to offer them the same offer.

We came out of the worst sales month in our last three years and it hit us out of the blue. The only thing that was different about December was the Gaspez affair that started at the beginning of the month. That cannot be our future level of business ... or there won't be a company. Our newest business partner has been actively looking for way to improve our sales and when he saw this thread he started asked Norse and I what could be done about these figures and the story behind them.

Since Norse was the tournament organizer for these figures ... he had the final call and he had two major concerns. 1) The set had to be only able to be purchased as it was when it was limited (which I fully agreed with) and 2) The new set could not sell for less than the original set.

So there is the reasoning behind this. If you are upset that you purchased a set that has a figure that will never be rereleased and got it for less money than anyone can get the set we are now selling ... I will be happy to refund your original purchase from our store and your postage to return the figures to us.

If a figure was sold individually at a premium by listed as limited edition ... there is no way I would ever re-release it. But the only way the Weather Goblin sets were sold was as a set and the set after as limited edition can still not be repurchased and there was no premium paid.

As I said ... as a collector I don't have problem. Anyone that purchased these figures from us and do have a problem ... I am happy to refund their purchase of them when they return them. You can PM me or email me Impact! and I'll arrange the return with you.

The set is nce - it was a shame it was limited in the first place

I have the original set, and it doesn't bother me that just the one figure is limited and not all of them.

Been after some of these figures for ages, very pleased to see then come back, i dont thinks its the 1st time impact have done this, wasn't there somethng similar done with the frog? (Could be wrong)

I can see why some of the collectors might be annoyed having been one myself, but id much rather have great figures like these easily available to all, perhaps im strange as ive got rare stuff in my collection that if it were re-issued on mass tomorrow i wouldnt care, i own figures becuase i like them not because they are rare and collectable.

I understand your explanation but still not convinced.

In your reaction I can read that it was the first intention to have a limit set and that now the set is viewed limited because of that one fig. I regret this discission.

I can understand that new players really want that set (again it is a lovely set) but I am convinced that part of the quick sell out of the set was the limit aspect. There were two supremes coming together : an A+ set and it was limited. Two things that made it a topper. Now that impact views that it is a hit, you change "the limited set" to "a limited player". Well, I am not glad as a collector.

How would you feel as GW would bring out the gamesday lizardmen set as a new set because only saurus number 2 was intented to be limited. I would also not be glad. Well, we would expect something like that from GW but NOT from Impact.

Taking back sets is noble but hey, we all love that set because they are so nice so no way they are leaving my collection. But think about it, that does not hit correctly. How would you feel if you really wanted that set and payed a lot of money for it on ebay, believing that it was a limited set. You can forget that money because you will not be refunded the price you paid.

Once you go that hill, anything is possible. What will we soon found out? That all popular limited figs will come out with a little difference. Will the pizza halfling soon come out with a new topping? Will the dutch open set of "rat with cheese" will soon come avalaible again with different kind of cheese beneath it? Will the halfling bench warmer come out as a goblin bench warmer?
I must say trust has been hurt.

Don't understand me wrong and this is not personal. I still appreciate what Impact has done for the game. Bringing out new miniatures and it that way giving us new oppurtunities to play non GW miniatures. Skill rings, mats, ... I know that impact had a lot of financial problems and this could be a way to get more money in but in the end I regret the action taken.

I think that artificially-created 'limited edition' merchandise is a pernicious, cynical and self-defeating marketing ploy, since it discourages newcomers from participation. I applaud Impact!'s decision to make these figures available and will order them when I can afford it.

Actually we are emailing the 9 folks that bought these from us on Ebay and offering refunds ... so actually they don't have to forget that money. And I don't know that I've seen auctions for the set outside of the ones that we did ... there might have been ... I just have not seen them.

And Magictobe .... we have done what you said multiple times already. The limited edition Toad with Football was re-released with a helmet. The limited edition Potion Peddler was re-release without one of three heads as an option. The limited edition Motty the Commentator was re-released with his nazzy coat and hat. We would also never re-release a single figure that had been listed as limited edition in its original form. That's just false advertising.

Also there is virtually no money in doing limited edition figures for tournaments ... we've lost money on almost every figure we've done (with a few notable exceptions). So I don't think you have to worry about that trust issue regarding many future limited edition releases as I expect to have the offer to do limited edition tournament figures removed from our website. Its a great service to offer to the community ... not a great service to offer to stay in business.

But those were individual figs that were renewed. This is different. The set was (if I am not mistaken) sold as a set that was limited. Now stating that it was only the one fig is not fair.
Remaking a new set of weather goblins that is totally different (in all figs) from old set would be no problem. But now, you come back from a statement that the set was limited.

I will hold from discussion till some others have given there opinion. Otherwise this becomes a topic between two members and this is not my intention.

I can understand that the tournament figs are not the biggest profit (or even loss). Again, I do appriciate what you have done for community but that does not justify unlimiting a limited set or wizarding with words IMHO.

But, I must admit that you are doing your absolut best to reduce damage and that is a good thing. (to end on positive note )
