Triple Skulls again?

Post by narkotic »

Last night I played with my Human Team vs. some Lizardmen.
Once I blocked one of his Skinks with three of my players, the Blitzer doing the Block.
Guess what... I rolled triple skulls :evil:

I just switched from 2nd ed. to LRB recently, and this has been only my 4th game with the block dice and... Bang!, they showed me what doom is.
Do you roll triple skulls often? never? or constantly?

More often than you'd like...

But then again last night someone pulled a 3 dice opponents choice block on Marcus, and put him down! :lol:

We have a name for the throw. We had a player called Lasse that was extremly good at those, so when someone else did it we laughed "HaHaHa, you did a Lasse". He had the extreme ones though, 3 skulls, RR 3 skulls. Or he had 3 pushbacks, RR 3 skulls :D

My dicerolls go like this:
.- Two dice my choose: pushback/skull or pushback/both down
.- One dice: defender down or both down
That's why I love Norses... because my dice roll more both down than you could ever imagine...

Hhm, I have to test my luck with further playing I guess.
Maybe I was just jinxed yesterday, bc. my very first roll in that game was a two-dice block with my blitzer and... double Skulls (RR Skull/Pushback)
I think I wasted all my RR on Blocks but managed to complete two Longbombs and ca. 10 GFI without any problems.
Strange world...

Fortunately I have not suffered too many tripple skulls in my career, but the go for it rolls always seem to get me. In my last league game me and my opponent suffered terribly from the curse of the ones. Of the approximately 20 go for its in the game at least 15 rolls were a 1. One of these rolls cost my opponent the winning TD (we drew 1-1) and I could have won 2-0 if my Amazon blitzer could have made a simple 3+ dodge roll (failed, dodge skill, failed....) so it was a gme worth forgetting!

I try to avoid 3 die rolls for this reason. Nuffle does that to me quite regularly. I have never knocked someone over with a 3 die block. Strange but true.

I was teaching my 10-year-old nephew how to play last weekend and the very first time he ever rolled a 3-die block...

He just looked at me and said "what does that mean?"

I had triple skulls 4 times in one half once...back in old 3rd edition with treeman star players...he had a comparably stellar 2nd half that game, getting only 1.

I've also had the worst luck string of anyone I've ever heard documented either online on in at-home league (PLEASE tell me if you've beaten this yourself):

Dark Elf blitzer with assist hits beastman with 0spp. double skulls. reroll: double skulls. Arm/inj, no mods: DEAD. Apothecary: Fails. The dead guy gets the MVP after the game. Without the MVP factored in we figured the odds for that whole thing to be about 1 in 14.8million iirc.

Ouch, nasty!

The best I've done is fail a 2+ pick-up with RR 3 turns on the trot. (And Lo! It came to pass on the 4th turn Nuffle looked down and I failed the pick-up but passed the Cheering Fans RR) :roll:

Double skulls = 1/36
Rerol Skulls = 1/36
Injury = 10/36 = 5/18
Serious Inj = 1/6
Dead = 1/6
Apoc = 1/6

I make it 1 in a million

(sorry but its late and im soooo bored, and also probably wrong *grins)

I once had a mummy kill himself making a similar block - but Av 9 pushes the odds to 1/1,679,616
