Great work with this conversion!
(I'm thinking about doing the same but with a ref miniature on the bottom... that way you're always sure, against any oponemt :orc: )

Red or Green for the human suggested :)

Argh! Why didn't I think of that! It would have solved all the incongruity issues :p

unfortunately for me, referees are zebras, and as my big guy is going to be in black and white, that wont really work :(

There is no incongruity issue. If anyone brings it up just stare at them like this:

:|

Then they'll inevitably ask, "What? Why are you looking at me like that?"

:|

"WHAT?"

:|

"Dude...what is your problem?"

Then you reply with, "You're just jealous because you don't have a Super awesome Wardancer conversion that looks like a crazed matador."

And their reply will be... :blue: "OMG, you're right! I'm sorry I questioned your skills." :blue:

Why not leave the human blitzer as a shadow? Basically leave him black with just Gray highlights. That would make the WD stand out more and would fit in with any oponent.

Very nice!!!! I like it very much.

When I painted my elf, Doc Drak told me (not exactly these words... 8) ):
'Paint the human in dark tones, that will make the elf the scene main actor'

And I did it....

I'm not sure I have the acting skills to pull off such a complex facial expression ;)

Nice idea - shouldn't be too easy to test, and overpaint if it doesn't work. I'll give it a try :)

Here's the Wardancer with a 'shadow' opponent (note base isn't finished). What do you reckon? I like it from the point of view that it's less obtrusive, but I think it really loses a lot of the drama. I'm currently leaning towards painting it properly:

I like him, he's basically a "stand" and fulfill that work perfectly.

But this is not a democracy, go with what you feel.

I really love the way this project is turning out. I would suggest (as I was trying to before) that you do what you want...like Greyhound said. I think the shadow figure looks great. I also wouldn't have a problem with him painted up properly. Incongruity or not at the end of the day you're the one that gets to take to fig home and be happy with it. You aren't going to make everyone happy.

Either way you've got an awesome looking mini.

I think it is great, and really love the shadow figure. Much better (and more natural) pose than the original inspiration as well.

Its awesome, I love the shadow idea and the pose is fantastic. I am not to sure about colouring it fully. Wizz it though photoshop(or some similair software) if you can and give it a digital colour to see what you think.

Very nice indeed! Although I'd reduce the edge highlights on the shadow human and darken him further.

Still sweet and an inspiration for myself.

OK, these were intended to be the final pics, but then I realised during cropping that I've (yet again) forgotten to paint the armour studs!

Even so, it's pretty much complete. After some soul-searching, I've retained the 'shadow' opponent, and now think it actually looks really neat, especially when the full team is lined up. I also toned down the highlights with some purple washes and tidied up the odd spot of overpaint. Very pleased with the final result :)
