Txapo - if you ever get a team painted up, please send me a picture. And if you get to play them, I'd love to hear how it went.
Actually i'm sending it to the painter when i came back from the eurobowl and i get some cash.

My usual painter has got already the instructions on how i want it. Basically the four collours of the former medieval kingdoms of spain. Each of the four knights and his squire and retinue of peasants will have it's own colour scheme...

Quite bretonian indeed,...

Hi Txapo - sounds awesome.

Arthur - whatever floats your boat :). Personally I prefer a team based on Bretonnian culture rather than the Bretonnian army. A unicorn was indeed there - but it was hated to death.

Ken - 4th ed. tanked, and the 4th ed. Bret team wasn't well balanced. IMO.

I'll better back out of this thread now. I don't want to start a pro/con Bret discussion.
Cheers
Martin

why not?? If Gw ever re-releases the game it has big chances to be inside the box:

1) A related army they would like to sell in WH.
2) Not many competitors doing miniatures for them.
3) Something new (they love it)
4) No fixed rules yet for them so they can twit it as they like.
5) They have the perrys to do great minis for it,...
....

Indeed I would say this team has more posibilities to be insede the box that the three non oficial but yes NAF races,...

However, (thankfully) the game designer (JJ) doesn't want them in, unlike the other 3 races.

I've always wondered wich is the amount of freedom JJ has to develop this game, as he is the designer, but not the owner of its copyright. And GW nortmally changes designer in all its games but this one!!! :smoking: :smoking:

Interesting question. And another one: Why JJ doesn't wants them in???

I like the list it seems decently balanced except for one thing no 2 questing knights.you just recieve one. un balanced i hate to say it might offend some chaos pact!! The only team with 3 big guys except ogres.add a couple of star players now you got a team of big dummys with marauders. sorry pact players.at least with this list they dont have any str. 5 starting big guys. they kinda remind me of the high elves with bad agility.

I believe Jervis wanted to get back more towards the "cyberpunk" nature of second edition, hence the introduction of the Elf team and their minis and the "hammer horror" Necromantic team. Neither of which fit in with Warhammer armies.

I'm also in the no Bretonnian camp, the cyberpunk theme was much better than a pure fantasy theme in my opinion.

Hi Coach,
I don't disagree with the 'cyberpunk' theme.

What I can not fathom is how there can be cyberpunk skaven, cyberpunk orcs, cyberpunk elves - cyberpunk undead for cruing out loud. But somehow the universe would implode if there were cyberpunk Bretonnians.

To be honest, I'm not sure JJ's freedom or intent regarding Brets really matters. Sure, he gets a page in the back of the rulebook, but it's not like he plays the game or even actively develops it. AFAIK, he's just the poor designer who had to rubber stamp GW insults like "Norse Werewolf" on to the CRP.

Back on topic though. If you can ignore for a moment the tourette-like instant hate-on that the mention of Bretonnians seems to cause, Martin's roster is well designed and play-tested. It's been through a few incarnations ( http://www.plasmoids.dk/bbowl/BBBretonnians_design.htm ) and is the result of a lot more thought and balancing than quite a few rosters from past rule sets.

Why mister dwarf, it's almost like you deliberately missed my point

So I'll re-iterate:
There are 21/24 Blood Bowl teams.
The vast majority of these are fantasy/Warhammer based critters.
But with a thin veneer of 'leather and spikes'.
Don't make me write out the list of SM-dressed warhammer denizens here.

I don't see why Bretonnians are any different.
They can wear as much bondage cr*p as everyone else.

Cheers
Martin

PS - in case you just plain missed my point: I don't doubt that all the BB species are 'cyberpunk' (or whatever). I just don't understand why the Brets couldn't be too.

PPS - and what the heck the shadowrun rpg has to do with anything is utterly utterly beyond me.

I think he ment the shadowrun pc/xbox360 game. It had elves and trolls e.t.c using things like mini guns and it still made sense.

I find Bretonnians to be like the New York Yankees. You either love them to tears or want them to suffer a miserable death.
Hopefully there are more poeple rooting for option 2. I'd hate to see a bunch of ignorant people in the streets wearing Brettionian jackets or hats...

I'm surprised there is so much opposition to the inclusion f the Bretonnian team... If there are different forms of elf, why not different forms of human? If the Norse and Amazon are considered distinct enough to not just be standard humans, why not Bretonnia? Also, if a team like the Slann can get enough support to become an official team, why not Bretonnia, as it is much less of a stetch!

Also, if you REALLY don't like Bretonnia, I would think you'd still want them in the game so you can break their heads open! I feel like you should try to put them into their place on the pitch, rather than deny a lot of players a good opportunity to play a team they enjoy.

Me? I'd probably never play as Bretonnia. However, I would sure love plating against a coach who was playing the team he really wanted to play as and not just a human team with funny hats!
