Would love one, $20 inc postage would be great. Since it was originally a GW sculpt, would it be GW tournament legal? (I'm thinking no).

You want one below 50 believe me.... Some times small pieces rip off the mold ;)

 I see it hard for $20.

Considering the value of the master (if it was bought) mold cost, metal, risk, casting cost and so on I will say a $50 not trying to get on anyones nerves :) just giving my 2 cents opinion on it.

This can be compared to the unreleased BB models like the resurection or the Lizzy cheerleader that usually fetch over 50$ or close to it. And I am the 60$ mark :) but also the one who was going to bid 650+ for it (thanks Norse still owe you will check the PO on Monday).

I'm sure if you want to give the seller the difference over what the rest of us feel is fair then they won't object

you manage to sell minis for a lot less than that though, no idea how they got the original one and until they come out and say that is pure speculation, could have been free for all we know ;]

I don't often agree with Chris  , but his maths is a lot closer.. and the cost to buy the master and then mould it etc etc runs to thousands $$$.. nothing is free Grum, that much I know for a fact..

so while many of you are posting that you "think" it should be priced at $20 it's not really your call.. I can't tell the Ferrari guy that I'll only offer him $50K for a $100K car and expect to be taken seriously.. I guess this is what you call a sellers market... of course, if you find somewhere else to buy the mini, go ahead.. :P

nazgob, did the seller respond to you?

Grumble ... dang you are such a cynic.

I'm with RJ ... $50 is a fair price (and what I put in the poll).

Unless he has his own equipment ... I'd bet a lot of money that this whole project cost a minimum of $1000.

If that is true it might eventually go for the $20 mentioned here ... but I'd be surprised to see the seller sell off 40 of them directly to TFF for $20 a piece at this point if his investment to get it was around what I'm guessing it was.

Me ... I'm waiting to hopefully get it for between $40 and $60 if possible on one of his Ebay auctions.

Curious if Nazgit got a response and if he'd be willing to post it?

Galak

I'd take five minis at $10, two at $20, one copy at $30. I wouldn't be willing to go above the $30 mark.

Gee, people who make miniatures believe the higher end of the poll is a fair price, while people who only buy the miniatures indicate that the lower end of the scale is their ideal price. Who'd have thought it? ;)

I finally see my prompting for those who know more about the costs of casting have pulled their fingers out and given us numbers

my first reply I stated I didn't know these things so was basing my judgement on information I had to hand

if this was the case though why don't all your minis cost this much? that is the confusing part

as for the cost of a ferrari, there are other comparable products on the market for the same cost if not higher

I've not seen a single limited edition mini cost $50 unless going second hand not from the original caster

using your $1k figure selling 100 at $10 would break even, or 50 at $20
there are already more than 50 in this thread (I think someone posted in one of the earlier pages) with minimum of "advertising"
selling 100 at $20 a pop will give a 100% ROI which isn't anything to sneeze at and would also be priced higher than any other single mini of this size I've seen for Blood Bowl

so yes while for this one case it is a sellers market, jacking up the price at the expense of sales doesn't always give you the best return

and like galak said, funny how the mini sellers are the ones looking to make prices higher  if GW were the ones doing this imagine the outrage in the related threads...

maybe I am a cynic, but I do my thinking with my head not my heart ;]

I really wish this thread had never started for two reasons:

1) it gives the "community" false hope that they somehow have some say in how this model will be priced or sold, and I don't believe that's the case. With the ebay auction getting higher and higher, the argument is mute..

2) it asks mini companies to reveal the inner workings of how models get to market and how they are priced etc.. I can only speak for Impact! when I say that we have always sold our models at the lowest possible price point because making a profit has never been our number 1 priority. We need to sell 150 or 200 of most minis just to "break even" - and the last time I checked no-one actually wants to just break even in life, right?

This situation is very different from normal due to the rarity of the model and the fact it cost a lot more to purchase one of the original masters than it would do to pay a sculptor to make a new mini. That throws a whole new spanner (wrench) in the works.. As for fair price, I voted $30 because as well as making minis, I do also collect them.

I paid $70 for a Troll 3 a few years back and I'm pretty sure when sold in the 80s the asking price was only a few quid. I remember buying Zoats for 50p each "back in the day" and now see the same Zoats on Ebay for $30+... is that "fair"??

Life isn't fair, buckle-up buttercup!

I know life isn't fair, I was merely giving the reasoning behind why I felt that price was fair

those minis you described are in a slightly different situation to this one as they were on general sale at some point, for 50p no less! that is even cheaper than the $1-3 I joked about

I dunno who the seller is and I dunno if they are reading or going to read this, but setting a price at a point too high can cost you sales and actually give you less profit than a lower price where you sell more

if he sells 4 at the cost of $60 to Galak, rolljordan, trav and yourself he makes back $240 of the hypothetical (dunno the exact costs obv) $1000 outlay

sells 73 at $19.59 (the average price in the poll) and he makes $1430 which would be $430 profit vs $760 loss

$1190 difference between the two selling prices, though of course you run a business you know all this already

so going off rough figures like that "my fair price" is better for everyone involved than $60 would, mind you galak did actually say 50 rather than 60 so that's another $10 loss...

if you discount all those who said $10 that would be 47 at an average of $24.89 which gives 1170, a $170 profit

course all this is hypothetical and the seller can do as he pleases
