Must add my love to the growing pile. I know everyone says it after every event, but I really enjoyed myself this weekend. A couple of great nights out and some fun games. Thanks to Geoff and Alex, the Waterbowl is the premier event in the circuit for me. Great venue, great organisation. Congrats to Rycos for ruining the UK Champion thing so early too.

Had - despite the probably over loud cursing at my perceived unfortunate statistical variance - a good time. Cheers to all involved - even Schmee, who seems to think I have three noses (and who embarrassed me with his Chaos).
Lessons of the Weekend : Bertha Bigfist is bloody annoying, and Ogres are a bit tricky when they don't fail thier Bonehead rolls (though it helps when they throw Quad Skulls). Oh yeah...and Valen is a right **** to play against. Especially when the draw is fixed to make said match happen.

Would like to say thankyou and sorry at the same time as I had the misfortune of missing the second day as was snowed in which really bumbed me out as was looking forward to another 3 great games.
Good to hear the second day went so well and hopefully will start to come to more events in the near future.

Just like to add my thanks to Alex & Geoff for another enjoyable and well run tournament.
Thanks also to all my opponents for some good games over the weekend.
I have to admit I was a bit lucky in a couple of games
(but I'll take it
)
Looking forward to Monkeybowl now

Re: Waterbowl 2010 - February 20/21 Manchester - Sold out?
Well done to Alex and Geoff for running the weekend, and well done to me for not getting smashed and marooned in a different town the night before and missing it.
Didn't see Lycos's win coming, the final games were all vital points scoring affairs, just as we like it!
I'll not forget Nippy's game leveller against Ironick, the final GFI die is still rolling slo-mo in my head!
As the (undeserved somewhat, they should be with a talented player!) winner of the legacy team, I feel a great thanks is due to all who painted a fig. Each and every one of them has something special about them (even yours Leip
) and I'm going to enjoy fielding them in future leagues and tournaments. Hopefully I'll get some photos and posts up to log their travails on the BB circuit.
Thanks to all for my games - first two against foreign opposition too! - but particularly Shaniepoo and Dazlamb, not because they were victories but for the qualities of the persons and the games themselves.
To next year!

If anyone can read the Score file that Geoff has posted on page 11 (I can't), is there a way of converting it into a readable format? If anyone can do this could you post here / email me a copy and I can get started on the results? Geoff is away for a few days so can't do this just yet.
PM me if you need my email address.
Cheers

Re: Waterbowl 2010 - February 20/21 Manchester - Sold out?
Thanks to everyone who came along and made the weekend a blast. Very nice to see a few new faces amongst the welter of waterbowl veterans
And also very nice to see people are willing to travel so far to come and visit.
Some specific thanks:
- Geoff, for doing the admin over the weekend and helping organise etc
- To UMIC for letting us be their only clients who get to use the facility on the weekend (and for a lot lot less than the £3000+ it should cost!)
- To Sarah for securing the room, helping with the organisation and working the weekend so we could play.
- Tritex for continued prize support.
- Nick and Nipples for the awesome legacy team work (along with all who contributed)
- Rob for printing off the CD covers and cutting them down.
I had a brilliant weekend, despite the 5 defeats that befell my Ogres
The only game where pretty much everything went against the Ogres was vs Barney's gobbos and I had to watch his AG4 pogoer dance past 5 times... (but then the Ogres were exceptional in being non-boneheaded in the next game. Thads has the precise stats
).
Highlights:
- An epic game vs Nippy's dwarves (that came 2nd overall) in game 1 that saw the ogres come within touching distance of a draw. My brain still hurts from all that thinking
- Finally playing Gorbad, even though I couldn't inflict his usual stunty defeat...
- An amazing festival of carnage vs Jimmy's gobbos that saw my snotling sneak over the line on turn 16 to take a 1-o victory (and meant that my ogres avoided the wooden spoon and joint least TDs)
If anyone has any comments re: things they would like to see next year, please PM me or drop me an email to waterbowl@hotmail.co.uk
@tiamo - sorry, yep I got your pm. Will send you a reply later on.

Re: Waterbowl 2010 - February 20/21 Manchester - Sold out?
I wouldn't say precise...but I think you used all your Ogres every turn...so that's 16 turns multiplied by 5 ogres, is 80. IIRC 3 failed Bonehead rolls. Makes the Ogres a somewhat more imposing prospect to play against when they actually do what they're told.
All got balanced out though...one of those rolls was at a fairly important moment letting me bust your cage open, and then you got that quad skulls in the second half.
I had some really crummy luck at times this weekend, but for every pivotally crap roll (most of which involved picking up the ball once the hard work had been done) I got I can think of one that an opponent suffered. Both Oon and Sann had key 1-rr-1s in our games.
Much easier to see these things away from the heat of battle.

Thanks for getting the scores up swiftly Bren - but there's an error in mine (and Alex's I guess) in that our game is listed twice. Sorry to be a pain.
