Heh, I remember all of that. Seems like so long ago.Darkson wrote:I won't post them (as right of this moment, I don't even know where I've got them saved!) because I promised years ago I wouldn't, but let me say, as a LRB4-perferer, who would happily turn back the clock to LRB4, what we got in LRB5 is because of Tom - JJ's version of LRB5 would have made most right-minded coaches stop playing the official rules in a minute, meaning we'd have gone back to the pre-LRB1 days of each group having their own house-rules.
And we only have the cards in the game because:
a) Tom backed me up over my badgering of JJ to get them in as an alternative to inducements, and
b) Tom took over the card testing and editting when the free-time I had when I took on the project evaporated. He didn't have to, and could easily have dropped the whole thing, but because he realised it was something a (minority) part of the BB community wanted, he carried on with them, in addition to the rest of LRB5.

Well done Tom
Your initial post in this thread was a lot more gracious than mine would have been if I was in your position.
I must admit I would have given up bashing my head against Grandma's brick wall long ago. I admire your tenacity and perserverance.
The wider BB community will always remember the part you've played in making the game what it is.
Thanks for all your hard work.

Re: Changes to the BBRC
Tom you are a better man than I, if you live your life with same code of ethics that you show in the forums.
I have love BB since first ed. and although second ed. is my favourite version the length of time needed to play it with the downs rules stops it being a viable game for an ongoing league (what with real life getting in the way). Having said this, I honestly believe that LRB6 is the best, most playable and fun rules set that this game has ever had.
I actually understand GW wanting to protect their IP, but as many have already said, I think that they way they have gone about it is short sighted and simply rude! However, this move to remove you from the BBRC is an insult to their own intelligence. They have effectively fired one of their most productive workers, whom they didn't even have to pay!
What a bunch of numpties! If I ever start a gaming company I would be proud to offer you a position on the staff at a 100% pay rise above what you got from Granny.
Thank you Tom for all your work and add me to the list of people that owe you a beer if I ever get the chance to meet you.

Re: Changes to the BBRC
I play 5 years of bloodbowl now so if I understand correctly I meanly played the rules that you made help to design.
Well bloodbowl plays an important roll in my life. I play some tournaments in a year. I play a league. I play weekly fun games. Bloodbowl is so much fun that I do not mind driving around the country to play some matches.
This can only be when a game is so good to be able to infect people.
Thank you TOM, for this bloodbowl infection. Your work has infected lots of people. Bloodbowl (and your work on it) has not only given me a lot of hours of fun, it has created a huge community of people who I can call my friends. Of and on the pitch.
This is why I cannot say enough. Thank you, Tom.

This is not exact: As far as this summer when I chatted with them the twins carried on with their job at GW full time. In their free time they scuplt for their 100% owned company Perryminiatures http://www.perry-miniatures.com/ as they have been doing for the last ten years since they created it.rodders wrote:Grumbledook wrote:they have their own minature range afaik and have a game out in conjunction with rick priestly (sp)rodders wrote:just out of interest does anybody know if the perry twins are still involved with gw?

Apart from that they own a small part of Warhammer Historical Wargames Ltd ( http://www.warhammer-historical.com ), when I was there in Notts. (ten years ago) this company was created 50% owned by GW, 25 % Rick Priestley, 12,5% the twins and 12,5% JJ. Don't know if the proportion has changed since

Re: Changes to the BBRC
Tom has done an incredible job for the community.
He has worked tirelessly over many years and the LRB idea may well have gone the way of the dodo without him.
Our global community playing a balanced and unified version of the game over recent years, and hopefully many more years to come, has a lot to be thankful for.
