Cost of Bubble wrap + Box and sticky Tape in UK?

Post by Magictobe »

Just a question for UK-residents.

Had this reaction from fellow TBB-member (No, I will not call names, and no it is not Stick from who I bought the orc team))

Is it true that the cost of
a simple box
a piece of bubble wrap from 40cm x 40 cm
and 1m of sticky tape

Cost £ 6,10 because that was the reply I got. Sorry but in Belgium, I can get this for £ 1,00.

To be clear £ 6,10 was the cost above the postage cost on post stamp.

I hate it when people want to receive extra money on postage.

I can tell this for the future. I will be listening some auctions in the future (to pay for wappel team  )

Who ever buys from me will only pay what the ACTUAL cost will be of what I have to pay to post office!!!!

I work in a supermarket, and I could get all of those items for about £2.50 (provided I get one of those 'luxury' postage boxes we sell). Probably under, but I wouldn't want to guarantee that because of the box size (ok, I myself tend to steal the boxes we get our stock delivered in, and no-body I've shipped to has complained about it yet). But then the bubble wrap and the sticky tape will last a while as well....

I can't remember the individual prices I'm afraid, but if you want I'll check on my next shift (for further shame!).

Of course, that's only if you take advantage of the fact that supermarkets sell just about everything cheaper than you can get it elsewhere. I can well imagine someone paying £6.10 if they bought these items individually from the post office (for example).

Box was simple cardboard box. No padded envelop.

Bubble wrap and sticky tape. I would not charge full package to everyone that bought items from me last month.

Not to mention that both items arrived damaged.

For the record : This is not to get personal and start a frenzy post war. This is why I will not mention any name.
I was just wondering if prices actually are 6 times as much in UK as in Belgium.

Short answer, no, they aren't.

Funnily enough, we tend to charge more for boxes than the envelopes at my store. From memory, £1.27 for a single average sized box, but then that'll be WAY too big to ship blood bowl in (half a warhammer army, yes, but not a BB team). As opposed to £1.67 for a few envelopes.

But then we only sell two sizes in boxes, and a LARGE amount of different size padded envelopes.

Some colored dice (no, not the ones with stickers on them)

Some painted teams.

Some individual figures.

More info will follow later. Tommorow I start taking pictures and ending the painting of some teams. Maybe next week, I will have complete summary of auctions.

And, YES, I WILL COMBINE POSTAGE!!!

:o

Quite a time ago  ... but when i sold minis i mostly send them using used padded envelopes and a bit of bubble wrap from auctions i won before . So i normal send them just for the poststamp cost. But at the auction i gave the seller the opportunity to ask for new envelopes which cost a bit more.

There are far too many people using postage as an excuse to make a bit of extra on the side.

Now unless he lives in the centre on London, and bought all the bits from Harrods, there is no way that it should come to £6.10

You've been taken for a ride mate.
And i reckon you SHOULD tell us who it is so we know who to watch out for next time he's offloading figs.

The problem I have with naming the name is following.

I love playing bloodbowl and also participate at international scene. The guy who overcharged has a lot of posts on this forum so I can imagine that he respected on this forum.

I do not want the whole community against me because I called his name. He could be friend of future opponents and I want to have fun at tournaments.

I am glad to see that community agrees that I have been overcharged.

The TBB member can defend for himself (if he wants)

Let this be a call to all TBB-members:
"WHEN YOU SELL SOMETHING, HERE OR ON EBAY, DON'T OVERCHARGE!!! LET THE BUYER PAY FOR WHAT YOU HAVE AGREED ON ON SELLING PRICE AND LET HIM PAY ACTUAL COST OF POSTAGE!!!"

I think it's a good thing that Magictobe is'nt saying the name of the seller in question, why? I think most of us are here becouse we like it here and fighting amongst forum members is not going to make it more fun here.

As to the postage cost, from Holland to anywhere in Europe is about 3,00 Euro if you use an envelope (spelling), and thats what i've charched anyone i've sold miniatures to so far. I have never asked for extra for useing paypal (the sellers charge, again spelling), envelopes ect.
