Is this mini an original or a recast?

Post by Olaf the Stout »

A Zara the Slayer mini has come up on eBay but I'm not sure if it is an original or not. I'm guessing it is a recast as the seller has sold at least 2 other Zara minis in the last couple of months (with the exact same picture).

Does the eBayer nerostinto ring a bell to anyone?

What do you think? Recast or original?

This is personal opinion.

He is a kind of professional ebay seller and I think he is OK. He sold different figures with same pictures because he runs like a shop on ebay. That is why he does not take a picture of the figurine he is selling but uses the same pictures.

I emailed him a couple of times and he was also activly searching for real figures. Asking around about real or recasts so ...

I think he is OK but do not shoot me afterwards

I've received a number of real figs from him, so I suspect it's the real deal.

If you are concerned, I would ask him if you can return it if you're not satisfied.

Regards,

nerostinto buys a lot of real figs both from eBay and (I think) elsewhere. He picks them up with snipes and then resells them.

So I'm pretty sure it's not going to be a recast.

nerostino is currently Impact! best customer. Having worked with for many months now ... I can tell you that if he is selling them ... they should be original figures.

The ONLY reason it would be a recast is if he got it from a recaster and didn't notice it. However I would put the probablity of this very very very low as he is a mini collector as well as a vendor and collectors learn to spot this stuff very early.

If he bought a recast ... I'm 99% sure he would reconigze it thus it would not show up on his auctions.

Honestly cannot say enough nice things about this guy.

Hi everybody there,

and sorry if I am not as well known as I'd wish in the community,
my full-day job and my part-time Ebay activity do not save me
much time to post a lot here..

Anyway, I started on Ebay much more as a buyer than a seller,
investing lots on BB miniatures... Then I managed to get in business with almost every fantasy football miniature producer out there and tried to resell their miniatures... So I'm mostly "independent" oriented on fantasy football figures...

Selling Grandma Wendy's figures on Ebay has a clear advantage, though... You can use the registered BB trademark (I've had so many auctions pulled down... though I keep on seeing many unofficial BB figures advertised with the "Blood Bowl" tag) and so you can drive people to your store, something that can be really hard to achieve making auctions named like "Impact! Beer garden beauty" for instance...
No matches from searches -> no visits... So, in order to higher the redemption of Ebay campaigns I'm quite forced from now and now to list some Grandma figure....

I made a great stock a while ago as a normal customer (being no professional seller atm, but that will change soon...) with no discount,
accepting not to gain (and maybe to loose something), just in order to "advertise" the other companies' figures... and that's it, that's where the minis come from....

Hope that makes sense... Thanks everybody knowing me and my activity for support. I stay here, at everyone's disposal for any further information you may need....

Thanks everyone for your replies. It has put my mind at ease that this guy isn't a recaster.

@nerostinto

Thanks for showing up here. :) Its always good to know something from the person himself here.

I guess, my days of buying "old" BB minis at ebay are mostly over, but i remember some auctions i wasnt sure about recasts or not. Once I got some recast from a quite expensive Squats US-ebay-auction. Later i checked out the seller... he was known for recasts... and bought nothing more from him. :puke:

Maybe a suggestion... if you sell something special BB (you will know as collector  ) , why not post a hint here ?

I know it would be good to, but being a seller of fantasy football figures
I have always thought any plug could be considered as "undesired advertising" and lead to a bad reaction by the community.. To speak the truth, I would consider it that way myself, I don't think it would be correct (as a reseller, not blaming any producer here) to use a public forum to drive people to my store.

ups... sorry... i realy didnt want to advertise you to do this "undesired advertising".

I´m not talking about the "normal" BB minis or minis of other companies like p.e. Impact! or Heresey. I mean the real special ones, the collector stuff you found p.e. while buying a ebay lot somewhere.

There is a lot of postings at the sales section here of the members of the forum as you know for sure, too. And, for my person, i´m happy, if i get the hint for a rare mini here as ím not browsing ebay as much as before.

Right on!!

Re-sellers (unless supporting tournaments) should not spruke their stuff on these lists IMO.

Two thumbs up from me nerostinto. May your auctions bring you much wealth.

... and it works. I've bought from you 3 times: first time GW BB mini with ebay, second time GW BB mini directly from your store and third time with some friends we bought lots of minis and not all of them from GW.

Can someone explain to me why the dwarf with the chainsaw is going for over $150?
