There used to be a guy on eBay who sold the same 8 or 10 oop WHFB Chaos minis. I wish I could remember his name. They didn't look like recasts but I found it hard to believe he had sooo many of the same dozen figs. I ordered a bunch of them from him and asked him one time if he was recasting. I didn't just come out and say it. I really just hinteed at it but he flipped and told me not to bid on his auctions anymore.

shiny figures
Hello,
I am following his auctions also. I have seen that this troll nr 3 looks exceptionally shiny compared to other GW figures.
Indeed 3 troll nr 3 in two weeks time looks very suspicious.
Don't trust it.

look, i know some of you guys just goota have a gw original. but what about us guys who arn't overly rich and would like a troll 3(like i would). big picture...who cares? this is'nt cancer research here, and its stupid, imo. whatever happened to wanting a figure because it was cool looking? i'd buy a recast and i'm not alone.

Bound, i have no problems with recasts, if he says they are. But people selling rare recasts as originals means that you are buying a "rare" for more than it's worth

final conclusion, they are recast
Hello,
I had order some figures and I have received a part and now it is final, they are recasts.
I see that they are very shiny compared to another troll 2nd edition (same troll)
When you let them fall on a table top they make a totally different sound.
And finally I put them on a scale. They true mini weight is 34 grams and the recast weight is 24 grams.
Conclusion, they are RECASTS.
Total rip-off.
I am waiting to give negative feedback because I am hoping for a refund but I don't count on it.

Yup - I bought some too (2nd edn humans & dark elves) .....Re-casts for sure...Too light, too shiney, cast OK but the metals all wrong...I won't sell these on as its not what I do but I will sell em off cheap dependent on what monies I get back!!hoomin_erra wrote:You'll be lucky if you get a refund. On 2nd edn & 1st edn mini's this is just wrong as these are very collectable. Glad I didn't buy one of the Trolls - they must have cost a bit and the cast cannot be that good?

I have challenged the guy and am claiming a refund too!! Had no word from him!!

I have a question....
In case you use the same raw material as the producer and appropriate machinery you can cast a perfect reply of the original.....where is the diffrence ?
i.e. the Res Gutter Runner is time to time casted by the producer to give away at tournements , etc. So it can be casted in 2002 as well in 2006, if someone recast it with the above mentioned things there is no difference into the quality and it can be an original too, as produced in different site.

As far as I know, it's not. I think they have casted an amount in 2001 and gave away the spare ones in the following years.scott summers wrote:i.e. the Res Gutter Runner is time to time casted by the producer to give away at tournements , etc. .
As to your argument: it wouldn't be right as it's not cast by the creator of the mini. According to you, forging money is ok as long as it looks and feels like the money the government is printing?
Anyone who starts buying recasts brings his collection one step closer to be less valuable and therefore less collectible bc with every recast of a rare mini the whole thing of miniature collecting goes down the bin.
What's the value of a Troll#3? I guess it's around 1GBPs for the material, the market price is 50-75GBPs becaue of the demand. Recasts destroy the demand, everything which is easily available stops being a collectible item.

Message I got from him this morning:TuernRedvenom wrote:I'd send a mail to the legal department of GW. It is pretty illegal to recast figs for commercial use, and knowing GW they'd crack down pretty hard on that sucker.
"once again i am a novice in collectable figures, i was under the
impression these were original gw figures.Due to your patience
and understanding if you return the goods i will fully refund you
for all your goods. On your advice i am no longer selling the gw
bloodbowl goods, i am hopefull that you will be content with
this solution. As soon as i recieve the returned items you will
recieve a full refund including p&p.".....Hmmm

I don't think I am comfortable sending these back to be re-sold. I may see if I can get the money back regardless and go from there! (Might just sell them locally as re-casts at cost if I don't)

I totally agreed with Narkotic.
But : put on case that the original casting tools of BB troll player 3 is not lost and someone cast some pieces by time to time you never know if the piece is original from 80's or new. And finally where is the difference ? In this particular miniatures world is difficult to decide if the value is given also by the casting date, as you know, many old models are in catalogue even today, i.e. a dwarf cheerleader is difficult to say if it's coming from the 80's or from today and its value is given by availability (and price too).
My thinking is that if we can't have numbered copies (or dated copies) we never be sure to have an original or a recast when the caster uses the same raw materials and tools.
It's a very difficult matter

Nearly all 2nd ed minis were recast by GW in white metal. The Troll 3 wasn't. If you need one for a team though.... paint it up and you won't know. Neither will anyone else. Get all indignant if you want but it's just a matter of opinion. GW isn't casting these anymore. I doubt they even care if someone else is.
I love watching all you guys talk about this stuff.
