Tournament Legal Figures

Post by Vydar »

Hi,

I was wondering what figures were considered tournament legal. Do they have to be made by GW? Do they need to be painted? etc.

Thanks!

Hey Scrat. It depends on the tournament. If its a GW tournament, its pretty much GW only. Most other tournaments allow other figs, although I would check on a case to case basis. Most ask that the figures be painted, but noth always.

Does GW do any tournaments in the USA or just in the UK?

Mixed on that.

The Adeptius Cup was GW (Chicago) .. but not sure if that will happen again in 2006.

The Chaos Cup is GW and this is the 3rd year that it has run. Chicago Nov 5/6

The GenCon Bowl which is the largest tournament in North American each year is held in August in Indianapolis. The first year it was GW figs only. 2004 and 2005 it was any figs. 2006 ... uhhhhh ... well ... let's say a lot is up in the air ... it might go back to being GW sponsered which would mean GW figs only.

Galak

I'm not sure what the % of GW to non-GW tournies is in the US, but I'd hazard a guess that the independents far outnumber the GW events.

There have been 29 NAF sanctioned tournies in the US over the last 3 years (The Chaos Cup and upcoming Spokane Splatterbowl (one dayer in WA) take that to 31), closest to you would be the Three Kingdoms Challenge in Florida, usually held March time.

Here's the list for interest (numbers in brackets are NAF members present, not total attendence):

Zlurpee Bowl I 24 Sep 05 (8 )
GenCon Bowl 2005 19 Aug 05 (47)
The Beantown Brouhaha II 25 Jun 05 (19)
Golden Skull III 18 Jun 05 (6)
Death Cup Invitational 28 May 05 (9)
South Bend Slaughter '05 16 Apr 05 (12)
Philly Phrakus 16 Apr 05 (12)
AdeptiBowl 2005 2 Apr 05 (7)
Three Kingdoms Challenge II 12 Mar 05 (24)
Rhody Rampage 5 Mar 05 (2)
Bashin By Da Bay 19 Feb 05 (12)
Northwest Pro Bowl 2004 4 Dec 04 (6)
Underworld Cup: Finis 20 Nov 04 (11)
Bashin NOT by the Bay 20 Nov 04 (8 )
IRON MIKE'S Bloodbowl Tournament 13 Nov 04 (6)
Chaos Cup 2004 6 Nov 04 (14)
GenCon Bowl 2004 20 Aug 04 (40)
The Beantown Brouhaha 31 Jul 04 (15)
BBC Golden Skull II 17 Jul 04 (6)
Sourcerer's Stone Cup 19 Jun 04 (9)
Memorial Mayhem '04 29 May 04 (2)
Baltimore Games Day 22 May 04 (5)
Three Kingdoms Challenge 13 Mar 04 (26)
Halfling Dinner Mug 7 Feb 04 (13)
Underworld Cup 15 Nov 03 (16)
The Chaos Cup 2003 1 Aug 03 (22)
GenCon Bowl 2003 25 Jul 03 (48 )
Galadrieth Goblet 1 Feb 03 (15)
Underworld Cup 23 Nov 02 (16)

Wow! Thanks for all the answers!

Is there a forum or website I should be looking at to find out the locations and dates of the tournaments? (Particularly any in Florida.)

There's always the Tournament Postings section here, and most Tourneys are posted on the NAF site.

This is slightly off topic, but is there any significant difference between the NAF website and this TalkBloodBowl website? Also, what does NAF mean?

You have to be a member of the NAF (which stands for Nuffle Amorical Football, the name in the background fluff for the league that played BB, of course from 3ed the league was supposed to have collapsed , anyway that's where the name came from) to be able to access the forum which discusses NAF related stuff as well as BB in general. Might find more info on tourneys there as they are one of the big things the NAF focuses on.

Not a shameless plug, but I'd suggest going and having a browse. The forum and a few other bits are members only, but there's plenty to look at anyway.. rankings, upcoming tournies. other sections etc.

I guess I'm jus trying to figure out why there are two forums rather than just one. Is there a specific reason why TalkBloodBowl and NAF aren't merged to bring players together?

Because TBB is a free-for-all forum, whilst the NAF fotum can only be accessed by the members.
