My first ever greenstuff sculpt..(updated 16th Oct)

Post by Ewan »

This is my first ever sculpt using a wire frame and greenstuff. It is supposed to be a Norse Star player (Yeti/Ice Troll) "Icepelt Hammerblow". It started because of this thread at the weekend. Any criticism is welcome as I need to learn but please remember - it is a work in progress and I have still to give it its fur, armour and re-work the features somewhat. The tutorials I have seen say "start from the feet up" and since starting, I have progressed to the point where I need to re-do the feet. So please, any points or advice (especially from those who sculpt) are very, very welcome! :D

I will update this as each stage progresses.

Cheers,

Ewan

Sounds like a plan.

Seriously, a great miniature! I look forward to seeing it as it progresses.

Nice model - got me thinking. I know this is OT but: Anyone have any clue what it would cost to have someone do a model like this but of a pirateship - war game size? Any ideas who would do that? I have made this pirate boardgame, and right now were using anchors as ships :D

Added a bit more greenstuff -

Ditched the boots in favour of "hairy feet" type things but the "claws" are only to let me know where the toes are pointing rather than them being claws.

Still to do loads to it - Face, hands, bottom jaw, feet, blah, blah, blah. I should get more done this weekend and should be able to post more pics by Sunday night.

As always any comments are welcome! :D

wow! :o that is really looking good now!

One thing can I point out tho (aside from the fact i cant sculpt!)
For me, his ankles look to broad, but i guess he also needs to be supported too... aside from that, its pretty fantastic... if you ever decide to cast it, ill take one for sure! 100% I love how its turning out!

Great work :)

Yeah, the ankle thing is bothering me too! I was planning to redo from the knees down but its good to hear a similar opinion as I tend to overthink things somewhat.

No I don't believe you. Not your first sculpt. No way.

I'm kidding. That is absolutely wicked good. I like the fur around the ankles.

One word says it all.

WOW!

looks good mate, i disagree about the ankles being too wide think it gives the piece a strong look. if you do get it cast up i would be interested in one :) btw what stats history are behind your creation???
