320.000 GPS to spend on dark elves!

Post by berserker »

Yup, I have 320.000 GPS to spend on dark elves, does not happen that often...

The team is 7 games old and I just won the final (and thus 200.000 extra)

I have:
3 Linemen
1 Lineman with Guard (and now a Nig)
1 with Kick
1 with strip ball
1 with block
1 with dodge
1 with +1MA and block (so he became a blitzer :D , not counting as one)
1 Blitzer with +1MA
1 Blitzer who rolled a normal skill (I think I'll give him dodge)
1 Witch with block who rolled a normal skill (probably side step or strip ball)
3 RR
1 Apo
9 FF

I got lucky to avoid deaths as it was a short league...
Now 320.000K to spend...
I tought
4th RR
2nd witch
3rd blitzer

I am not thrilled about acquiring a thrower as I play the running game with them most of the time.

I also thought about the 4th blitzer instead of the 2nd witch...

Did you think buying two blitzers and a RR?.
Only to have 5 players ma 7 and block. 5 is better than 4, 'cause Frenzy is a bad counselor. x'DD

Yes I did, in fact I mention it inn my post

I'm not a huge fan of frenzy in general (wich is why I didn't start with the we but bought it only as my 12th player) but she has dodge already + jump up and having 2 we forces the opponent to be very careful on the sidelines...

I often think about what's my own way of playing, then thinking about what kind of players may fit better my game. Use to open a gap and get the witch running thru the end zone? get a Blitzer and a Witch.
If you play passing the ball (quick or short pass), you better need the blitzers to negate a blitz on your receiving player/s.
Is up to you and your way of playing; also the other teams may change the way you play, but I don't care, fast catchers, good zone defense and a long pass. (that's the wood elves method)

even if you mostly do the running game, you should have a thrower back there who is reliable at picking up the ball and throwing quick or short passes to get your set up going faster. helps protect against those annoying guys with kick and such. so i'd say thrower, blitzer, witch, that's 300k...the other 20k you can start saving for your next blitzer with.

you don't have to play a deep passing offense to get a TON of value out of your thrower. give sure hands for first skill, then dodge, and he's useful for lots of things. oftentimes after he gets rid of the ball, your opponent may tend to ignore him, so you can use him for all sorts of things.

I'd go for the re-roll and two blitzers. I'd also go for Side Step on the Witch Elf ahead of Strip Ball. Particularly since if you get a pushback with her you are going to have to throw a second block even if you get the ball. Strip Ball is better given to blitzers - give the witch elf Tackle next.

IMHO the 4th RR is a must have so I won't sacrifice it for another position player.

At first I was thinking of taking 2 blitzers but my witch was impressive in the finals, with 2 cas and 2 td. The threat of being pushed outside the borders because of her makes room for me on the flanks too, this is why I hesitate.

Get one RR extra and then add as many player as you can, preferably Blitzers, but you could use a thrower by now as well, because your lineman have several skills by now.

Good luck. :smoking:

I'd say

1 Blitzer
1 Thrower
1 RR
then save for another reroll or blitzer or whatever... feel free.

I don't know if it fits for you but I always have throwers in my teams (even in my undead team :D )

Definitely the witch and blitzer.

witches seem to have awonderful habit of picking up casualties and are superb with block.

Blitzers make good ball handlers as well.

Nice mix, better than choosing 2 of one kind.
