The Box is open!

now Englishmen you are teutonic too. :D

Quailifiers are nice, but only if the tourny is in your country otherwise the date of them makes planing very difficult.

i bet if you were to say that some of the current touraments in the calender will be a world cup qualifier as well, then the amount of people wanting to attend will increase.

these tournaments would not have to change their format just the results would be looked at by the National coach for the guys at the tourney.
arrrrghhh not a qualifying tournie

OK, Monkeybowl 2006 (this Saturday) is the official qualifying event!

But there will have to be some way of deciding who is in the team. Hmmm...

Again, I'd give the Eurobowl squad first dibs (they seem to play quite well ;) ), then if someone can't/doesn't want to participate, give the other squad members the chance to nominate who they'd like to see as a replacement. They were willing to put the money and time into travelling originally, so I see no reason for them not to continue, just bcause it's here (and seeing as the Eurobowl won't be held that year).

Of course, I'd love to represent Team England (only "sport" where I could ever be a representive!), but others have shown more commitment, and therefore (imo) should take priority

(IIRC) It was whoever was available and willing to pay to get to Germany for the first Eurobowl. Those that have replace the originals were invited/nominated/something like that from those English players that regularly made trips to overseas tourneys.

Nope (and note using those critera, I've no chance of playing for Team England, having not managed to attend a tourney abroad yet).

You open a whole can of worms here... what if the top 5 coaches are all Dwarf players? You can only have one of each race at the EuroBowl per team, so which races are you taking? Do you premake a list, with the risk that you won't be taking the 'top-ranked' players at those qualifiers? Or do you do free for all, with the risk that of your 5 'most-likely-to-win' players, 4 won't go, even if they did finish 2, 3, 4 and 5?

In the end... I think the Dutch system works: We have a dictator for life who picks, and in the end we sort of work it out amongst our selves.

It works, yes. But it is very subjective too. People might feel left out. If you don't belong to the correct circle you have no hope of participating

And to what end you have followed your King we have seen last Eurobowl.

What place was it exactly?

Qualifiers sounds nice. But as in germany last year the team needed in the end 2 freebooters and best german coach was a non qualifier. Followed by the italian Freeboters.
