Most definitely you can start without re-rolls. But I applaud Thadrin if he's truly going to play without any re-rolls. Man's got big brass ones.

Our DE coach tried it w/o for a season. Games went pretty quick and he wasn't so stressed out over the die results. Won a few games too.

Blood Bowl Grand Tournament

Post by carlbrown »

Hi there

Just registered - thought I'd say hello and let you know that Matt and myself will be at the Blood Bowl Tournament next March.

I'll be taking Orcs (Da Deff Skwadd) - couldn't take anything else to the 'big one'

Team structure not fixed yet - waiting for actual event rules.

Cheers

Carl

 hope this post works - still a newbie at this forum milarky!

Play without rerolls? The way the dice have been for me lately? not on your life pal...DW may be right about the Pact/old world teams...but with the review due before the BB they may end up official before then (doubtful I know, but stranger things have happend.)

In which case I'll probably run with the same roster as I had at Tulips (Dwarfs: 2 Runners, 2 Blitzers, 1 Slayer, 6 Longbeards, 2 TRR, 4 FF, Apoth), possibly exchanging the Apoth for an extra reroll and +1FF. I refuse to go full cheese FF1, 4 rerolls though.

Gonna be cool to meet the maniacs behind all those house rules that pop up in BBMag. Glad to see one of the Browns has joined us.

Latest bit of news over on House Rulez is that the Blood Bowl may be extended by another 50 tickets. Those of you Cinderellas already on the reserves list may well be coming to the Bowl.

That's true. I emailed Andy Hall on the being a ref for the BB tourney post (that would be probably the only way I would be able to attend) and in his reply he mentioned that due to the overhelming demand there will be 50 more spots openned for the tourney. So, I would say that any TBBers that don't have tickets and want to go, will probably be able to.

and after muck deliberation, i've finally decided to apply for one of the ref positions. Unlikely that i'll get in, but you never know. Otherwise it's going to be looking in from the bar at bugmans i think.

you can be the official TBB "Water"boy...

Seriously, hope you guys who didn't get tickets get them (Has anyone made sure Sputnik knows about this?). Never having seen Warhammer world I dunno what the capacity is like, but 200 BBers in one room...whoa....I'd say it was gonna be cool but seeing as we'll probably be crammed in like sardines I don't think Cool is the right word.

Wonder if this thing with the tickets will make them more willing to print a larger number of copies of BBMag. They have a good head for the old Supply and Demand at GW Towers.

Wow, this topic had lots of new post since I saw it last time.
If stars are allowed I'll consider again taking dwarves... I think that this is one of the teams that can stop luthor, the other is another team with luthor.

Hello,
Managed to get myself a ticket to the bloodbowl, so in my excitement thought I'd better check out all the BB sites. Can't say it's helped as I'm now expecting a almighty whooping from lots of people who seem to have far too much experience. But as I was browsing, thought I might as well try to be sociable and say hello.
Do you know when we will get to know the specific rules etc?

Blood Bowl Tournament

Post by carlbrown »

Cool to hear there are more tickets available - the queue at the bar is going to be worse than the line of scrimmage at a Chaos All-Stars game :)

Seeing as I couldn't make the Resurrection event (I was busy helping my wife with the arrival of our son) I was wondering if anyone can tell me what kind of mix of teams should I expect?

Does the 1 million, star player environment attract a particular style of play/team or is it a case of everyone takes their favourites and to hell with the consequences?

The reason I'm asking is my tournment tactics are predominantly 'theoretical' at the moment - I was at the '98 event with the 1.25 mil team make-up (and the Freebooter loop-hole) but things have changed a lot since then.

Incidently in '98 I came up against a loop-hole High Elf team with my 'straight' orc team in the first round and lost 3-2 (I think). I won my other two games but the damage had already been done :(
