Me too. I'm wrestling with my conscious whether to buy it (as it's a copy).

Ok, i've said this before and will say it again. The seller is awesome, the model detail superb. If you're worried that its a copy, don't be. Really.

I went for it.

In other news, his unreleased Khemri Mummy was also out, and then EBay pulled it off. Since I already paid for it, does anyone know if it is the real deal?

Cheers,

Couldn't tell you, but the seller won't screw you.

$23 US is about £14-£15 UK so that’s not terrible. Especially when you look at what GW are charging for their other decent but inferior Zug sculpt.

I don’t care about collecting, I buy models I like so I can paint them up. My only concern is the legality as it is a recast so it all comes down to who owns the design? Or more accurately who can afford the lawyers to send C&D letters to people claiming they own the design. :puke:

Going to back up what Nazgob said since I bought one of these as well to the overall quality of the figure.

Now I don't care if you buy one or not ... but as someone who casts up minis I am concerned by the incorrect use of the terms for this industry on the thread. This is not a "copy" or a "re-cast". It a production casting of a metal master. ALL miniatures that you own are normally production castings from metal masters ... its how miniatures are made. So if it is a "copy" or "recast" ... all the minis in your ownership are "copies" or "recasts"

Is it one of the original metal masters made by GW ... no ... but its exactly the same as what you would have received if the miniature had been mass marketed.

Just wanted to clarify this as someone who deals with the technical side of the industry daily so to me these words have heavy meaning and wanted to make sure they were being used correctly.

Re-casting is when you make a production copy of a production copy (very bad) ... that is what you should call a copy or recast and quality is normally very much lost when this is done. That isn't what occurred with this figure.

Q: Is the seller GW?
A: No, so therefore it's a copy, right?

Not if it's a master, no.

No. Copy means production casting of production casting. Not production casting of metal master.

While I think the armour design is well done on this sculpt and it's meant to be Zug I prefer the GW version tbh. This is a nice mini but it's just doesn't scream Zug at me.

I'm struggling more with the price tag.

This is such a flawed argument...

What happens if the Company does not accept a design, or the sculptor makes it for them, but does not like the terms? Anything cast of that is now a copy? Or a recast? Sheesh!

It's like owning the master of a print, and claiming that any prints you create from it are somehow copies, when that is the WHOLE POINT. [not yelling]

My understanding is that the individual has a master of the mini, which is used to produce it. Since the only reason to own a master is to... create production molds, one begs the questions

And now that we diverged from the original point: I am so excited to have gotten it. I missed out the first time around, and now that it was available at my price point in splurged.

I love the fact that its armor matches the stylistically the rest of the humans. While I love the other Zug, this is a selling point for me on this one.
