Recaster alert

http://shop.ebay.com/zwartegoblin/m.html

I could be wrong (but I don't think so). To be sure, I checked with ip*hb and he did not sell a Zug to zwartegoblin. Add that to him having the Chaos Cup figures for sale and I have no memory of selling those to anyone with that handle.

So my warning would be to NOT buy from zwartegoblin. The figures are appear to be clearly recast and the qualtity will of the figures will be poor compared to what you could get otherwise from the real thing.

Can't you just email GW about his activitys? That will stop him. He will have GW lawyers at his door in moments.

What works better is to click the Report button on the auction (like the Zug one as I'm positive that is recast) and report it to Ebay as counterfeit. This can be done in a few seconds and is better than trying to go to GW.

GW will deal with you, but they ask that you buy the item and then send it to them to be checked.

Surely they'll insist you buy a genuine copy of the model from them as well so you can compare the 2?

Not sure I can afford a plane ticket to Netherlands for you to track him down for selling the Chaos Cup recasts. The quality of the Chaos Cup figures is just bad and the picture shows it.

The Zug since I bought one from the ip*hb auction ... I can clearly tell from the picture on his auction that his is a recast.

I've been trying to work out if this could be someone I know, but from my days in the 'Dam, no-one in the BB scene was doing any casting or recasting.. in fact, very few of the Amsterdam crowd could even be bothered to paint their minis..

Per my legal letter from GW I was to have to no contact at all in the future with anyone from Games Workshop development or Cyanide development team for any reason. Whether I was stupid enough to ignore that in the last year, I have no comment.

Why am I pretty sure that he is not going to refund the amount over $50.00 like seller not selling recasts of it did.

Ah well ... ... just very sad to see all his auctions go for so much. One because I hate recasting ... and two because the Chaos Cup figures are recasts of figures I worked on and that was the majority of his auctions. Will definitely be watching this guy to see if they show up again.

Really hope I don't see him trying to sell more of the Chaos Cup figures.

It's stunning GW Legal could seek to restrict who you associate with, period. It's even more cocky when you consider you have no compensation for your work product for them to claw back against.

Back on topic: is there some sort of handy guide for identifying recasts? All I really know to look for are shaved/blank tabs and poor detail, but it can be hard when I've never seen what the fig is supposed to look like IRL.

BTW, has anybody ever reported a recaster to Ebay AFTER buying a fig? I'm curious how they would respond as the seller is technically ripping you off by selling illegitimate goods.
