gloryfigures on ebay

Has anyone had any dealings with this seller on ebay?
http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/glory4figures/
I asked him for some front and back pictures of some 2nd edition cheerleaders and he got angry and sent me a rant about being insulted by such a request. Maybe I broke some unwritten ebay conduct code, but usually sellers don't respond like that (I've asked for pictures before with no problems).
It's a shame as he has some cool things up...

I've bought stuff off him before a long time ago - but I wouldn't buy anything off him now. I think he sells recasts.
That's just me. I know some people are fine with recasts.

I was wondering if that might be why he has so many copies of old figs and why he didn't want to send me front and back pics. Good to know.
Personally I'd prefer not to buy recasts as the price never reflects them not being originals and the quality may or may not be good.

But the fact that its illegal doesn't influence the decision if the price is right?

Unfortunately, at this precise moment in time, if the figs aren't available from GW, no, it doesn't bother me.
Bad attitude I know, but that's life.

No different than buying a Rolex knock-off from some meth addict in Times Square.

Not been to Time Square, and I don't need a fake rolex...
No different to watching pirate DVD's (which I'm sure more than one poster on TBB has done), nor from copying music (tapes/LPs [for those old enough]/CDs) (which I know more than one poster here on TBB has done).

Okay ... this will just be a high horse topic for me than I guess. I haven't done any of these things since I've been out of my parent's house.
Also as a miniature manufacturer ... recasters are a easy sore point.

I am going to have to agree with Galak on this. Very sore topic. Recasters are the Devil.

Makes me sick.
Thats all from me.

As long as a recaster states that he is not selling original figs, I would be okay with it.
This gives players a chance of playing the mini's they want and not having to pay the sometimes ludicrous prices collectors pay for original mini's.
A bit like the "I want to have a shrink wrapped version of this or that wonderfull out of print game just to have it on the shelf in stead of giving actual gamers the chance of doing what the thing was made for: being played ..."
But as more people already said earlier on in the thread, this is a very delicate subject in which two very opposite sides will have totally different ideas.

I understand that recasting is bad, but if the figure is no longer available and the seller is not trying to pass them as the original, why not? It should prove that there is a market for these figures and force the company to recast it.
The company here meaning GW. I bought a team of 2nd skavens on ebay, I would have had not problem buying recast at half the price since it was to play with them, not for collection.
However, on principle I would never buy a recast from a smaller company like Impact.
What frustrates me is that some of the most beautiful BB figs (2nd most of them) are not available anymore. Hell, in a while the only way to get a GW team is going to be ebay with the crappy support and sky high prices....
Rant over, here is the next caller.

If GW started reselling these figs, I'd happily buy them from them, but they won't, I can't, and I refuse to buy silly money for figures to put on a pitch.
Of course, if GW turned round and started selling these tomorrow, I'd avoid recasts, same as I'd avoid recasts of anything from say Impact or Goblinforge now.

it's illegal. plain and simple. if you are now making the minis yourself, or have permission from whatever company the mini is from, you can not recast it and sell it. i think Galak had that problem with one of his 'pitches'. recasting shouldn't be done, but then again there are alot of things that should not be done and people still do it.

Having just bought figs from you Galak, sorry about the post, I think you have every right to take the high ground given your line of business
I was thinking specifically about the out of production miniatures - if the price were low and the quality such that you couldn't tell them from originals I
think I'd buy them (I don't
know if I would as I've not yet been in a position to knowingly buy recasts) - I've missed loads of things on ebay because I refuse to pay the ridiculous prices that things go for, and I've posted here about figs I'm after but with no response.
I want to buy the originals, ideally from a miniature company to ensure the quality, e.g. the 2nd edition dwarf team I got from Tritex, but with the OOP figures that's getting harder and harder to do.
