Orange and White DyNoMite

Well, it's come down to this. I'm completely done with Blood Bowl. I even found a person to play with and I have notdesire so I'm going to let the least few gems I have go. One of them is my mass of Ogres/Goblins that have been painted by different TBB members. I still remember who painted most of them but I lost the list in a computer crash so...

I don't know what to do. Many were painted just out of affection for me. I don't feel I want to profit off someone's good wishes. So I have a question.
Do I give the original painters first right of refusal and if they're not interested put them on the chopping block? This is how I'm leaning.
Do I call them mine (they are) and maximize profit on my way out?
Sell them individually on en masse? There are 19 or 20.
This is unpleasant for me.

Sorry to hear about your decision.
I think the first option you mention is good but may I suggest another.
Find a tournie you like or want to support.
Donate (or accept nominal price for) models to organiser.
Allow them to use models as prize/prizes.
This (IMO) validates the time & effort the original painters put in while inspiring the people who still find joy in the game & community.

I agree with PubBowler.
And sorry to see a Blood Bowler go.

Shame to hear you are leaving.
If you want to donate the team, Frank Hill (Giraffe on here) is organising the Thrudbowl in the UK. He runs it in aid of Cancer Research and does an auction to raise money. If you wanted to donate it to the raffle i'm sure he (and Cancer Research) would appreciate it.
Alternatively you might be able to do a charity auction on here - but I don't know if that is allowed.
But it is up to you.

Well one of them was painted by me, but i did charge you for it if i recall correctly, puts me in a different position to those that offered there painting skills for free.
It would be a shame to see them split however if i remember correctly they dont fit the current ogre team line-up as you have more ogres than can be used.
my suggestion would be to give the original painters 1st refusal and then auction of the remainder, giving anything over what they orignally cost you to a worthy cause.
This link should help

Good suggestions.
Yes. Many (most) were painted in trade for minis. Firebreather's included. Even though I consider them paid for I received some paintjobs that far exceeded the value of the metal I traded. That's subjective though.
And just so you know. I have 14 or so painted Ogres in team colors and between 6 and 8 Goblins so, yes, they don't match any team lineup.
It's still early and I have only just posted my question but my mind is already turning.
Old photo. I think the team grew a little since this.

Break them up into 4 lots
the person would have to get snotling to fill out the roster (EASY! enough)
2 lots of 6 ogres
1 lot of 2 ogres
1 lot of gobos
donate the teams to 1-4 different tourneys
take a tax deduction when possible
you can also break them up to the highest bidder (here if allowed or ebay) and donate the money or a portion there of in excess of your basic collecting cost

That IS a very nice looking team.
PubBowlers suggestion makes sense. I'd split them into 2 lots of 6 ogres, one lot with the gobbos as well (they'll do for snotlings as far as a lot of coaches are concerned).
The last two ogres? Auction them off. You may as well get a little something for them.

By then you'll have enough teams. I can field one of them. LOL!

True. I have the last piece of metal in the mail for my 2nd ed Elves and I'm only three short for Chaos Pact. What can I say, you inspired me.
Now I just have to get all that metal painted...
Regardless, I hope you keep your Lizards. You need at least one team to stare at and reminisce about. Even so, I'd still rather see opposing coaches stare at them in awe from across the pitch as you soundly trounce them!

i have to say this is one of those things that really gets to me (in a sad way, not an annoyed way). for me a team of models is an emotive thing; so i have an emotive response - find the whole lot a good home and let some one who wants the lot have first shot (not volunteering mind you, my student budget doesn't cover 14 ogres, thats practically a ogre kingdoms army!). the other side of the coin is that they're just bits of metal and plastic, with paint on them - the emotional aspect of the game is all in the players head and there is no reason for that to become your driving motivation. so you've got two options; find them a good home, e.g. auction them as a job lot at the thrud bowl, doing a little good for the team, the buyer, the thrud bowl and cancer research, or sell them on ebay / here and get what you can out of it.
cws / jammer
p.s. always a shame to have a bowler leave the game

Hmm...
It'd be a shame to split them IMO. But they are most definately yours to do with as you will. They did cost you bucks to put together though. I'd suggest ebay as a job lot and maybe half to a charity of your choice and recoup your own outlay with the other half. Just my personal gut instinct, but it seems like a reasonable compromise.

I know I was pretty happy with my own effort (and even got a compliment from Norse!

), took many many hours over about a year IIRC. Not in the team pic posted, I know there were some pics online somewhere at some point but I'm buggered if I can find them!

Hey Lickety Split,
Sorry to see you go bro. It is a tremendous loss to BB and the community. I hope you get the itch again when the PC/PS/XBOX version comes out. Also, I sent you a PM about a couple things so I hope to hear back from you soon.
Take care!

Woody, you're a great painter mate, my only issue with your brush work is the infrequency!
then again, with my wee terrors, I can sympathise..
