The cheek of it!

Post by Indigo »

I doubt anyone here would have seen it, but I listed an auction on eBay for 8 2nd ed Skaven players, either mint condition or very well stripped.

Part of my auction text was "why pay overly high prices for poorly painted models from the likes of margaretthorn when you can get them cheaper and pre-stripped from me! ;) "

including smiley.

Now he/she has had the nerve to report me, saying my auction violated ebay's listing policy! Cheeky bugger!

I checked, and nowhere can I see anything that says comparisons to other sellers are against ebay's policy, not even mild slander :P What should I do?

I missed that, to be honest dave i can understand why he`s reported you, but i dont think you have to much to worry about, ebay are unlikely to kick you off for it, i assume the message you got was an automated response to his complaint.

margaretthorn is a blight on eBay. All his (for it is a lad using his mum's account IIRC) items are in sh*t condition, and you have to wade through 6 pages of overpriced crap every time you want to look for a real BB item. I ordered the 2nd ed. rulebooks from him, which he said were in excellent condition and would be well wrapped. They arrived in a just an envelope (not even a "Do Not Bend") and were falling to bloody pieces. Bastard... I paid good money for those! :D

File a suit against him/her/it too:

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 29279&rd=1

this was an auction which I wanted to bid: Margaretthorn has obviously managed to talk the seller into aborting the auction and sell directly to him.

You probably have to do a search from an english ebay auction as the "seller has stopped the auction" bit is in German.

But I don't know if this was illegal??

i did see them and i thought it was cheeky but funny. i didn't see the problem of it at all, it's not like you're really defacating his character or anything, it's just a bit of harmless banter.

although i would expect his next auction to have a bit back at you, but again in this cheery, sledging way.

go on indigo, give em hell.

He/She has already said "all my loyal buyers are boycotting your auctions in future".

I'm tempted to write back saying "Well I will unite TBB, the NAF and the rest of the Blood Bowl world against YOU. Taste my vengeance bitch."

Sound like a hilarious handbag fight is set to begin, for the record i think most of us are fed up of all his 1 figure auctions on ebay, not to mention being outbid by him on all larger lots.

P.S. Why use Indigo to paint youre figures when i paint better, cheaper and quicker

To see examples of Firebreather's work, look up the user "margaretthorn" on ebay ;)

why not have a fit and stop buying plastic 2nd ed humans from that seller :)

more seriouse point think most stuff kinda legit as far as ebay rules go, but get close to slander as a business and things get messy. Ebay look blind to the more shady activity - just look at the amount of auctions that end early in the auto sections.

or better still set her up for you. That way your jokes would crush her, and she'd eat you alive. :P two problems solved in one go!
