There are more than enough bootleg dice on the market ... many still readily available. And more seem to be made every day.Ironjaw wrote:Was more of a point of paying £90 for three cubes of plastic as oppose to a rallying cry to defy collectors and get some bootleg dice made.
I have a jar larger than Traveler's of just bootleg block dice designs.
Sometimes folks just want the real thing.

When we first got them (I drove Deathwing who chose them to the BB that year) I took the 6000 or what ever it was back home (I was Membership Director back then) and I still have, less than two feet from me now, the 8 dice I painted in different colours to see how they looked. Pink, Yellow, White, Light Blue, Orange etc and white was so clear.Xtreme wrote:I've seen them painted white and also yellow, makes them 1,000 times better IMO.fire olli wrote:I agree the green ones are crap so i painted the signs white. Much better
I am fast coming to the conclusion I should ask GW if I can get a re run if of say 4000 black/gold dice and offer them to the membership via a special deal or something. It would put a stop to this crazy stuff on ebay.

The free dice as a joining gift were, I suspect, never intended to be a way of NAF members making a quick buck or two from Ebay sales. I'm not saying that selling them for big money is immoral. Bidders aren't being forced to offer ridiculous amounts for them, after all, so good luck to the sellers! I just don't think that was the intention behind their creation.
I'm sure if you ran a poll on the NAF site to see how many members would be interested in the chance to own black dice, you'd be ordering them within the week. I suspect the people paying the huge amounts for black block dice are existing NAF members who are just trying to complete their collection.

I doubt it. How many NAFers are going to pay 16X what you know they cost originally? There are many many people that don't know who you are. Many are diehard fans and collectors. They want dice and they're hard to find. When they see something that they havent' seen before that eBay adrenalin kicks in. It's brilliant.howlinggriffon wrote:I suspect the people paying the huge amounts for black block dice are existing NAF members who are just trying to complete their collection.
You can play BB with 3 d6s and a d8 but who wants to do that?

I'd love to get another set of Black dice, but I don't think that will stop the crazy prices. Look at all the auctions for the BB trophy packs that get crazy i've seen them sell 10 times retail when they were still available from GW.Lycos wrote: I am fast coming to the conclusion I should ask GW if I can get a re run if of say 4000 black/gold dice and offer them to the membership via a special deal or something. Now they are putting NAF dice of last year for almost double the price you pay for it.

Don't be surprised if GW stops the NAF from giving away dice in the near future. They stopped producing tourney figs and went to giving away coins because the Rez GR was sold on eboy for huge profit.
You might see a bunch of people signing up for the NAF just to get the dice to sell on ebay. At that point, I would expect GW to pull the plug on the NAF being allowed to give away block dice and be told to find something else to give away as a membership gift.

plus if naf does produce them it gets a lot harder to find block dice, unless you hunt down bootlegs.
got to say i'm chuffed no one has bid for those yet, but i'd guess that by starting at £15.00 the seller is looking for a quick spot of cash, which i'm not sure anyone is actually willing to fork over for dice that are (only?) a year old.

I think GW should not stop the NAF dice giveaway.
Where's the problem???
Is a free market, if some NAF newbie wants to collect the dice given the previous years and can afford to pay thrice or even more the original price, where's the problem???
If we talk about people trying to profit from the NAF and subscribe only for the dice in order to sell them, that's another story. There the NAF should act and think about it. I don't know, but maybe NAF dice should only be given on tourneys,... don't really know the answer.
Anyway, those other eBay buyers who not even know what the hell NAF is, should try to make some "google" before paying those sums, and discover what NAF is and where did those cool dice come from.
Best regards,
MTFBWY. PTT

Which is the stupid sort of thinking that has them in the financial mess they are in.Torg wrote:They stopped producing tourney figs and went to giving away coins because the Rez GR was sold on eboy for huge profit.
I don't think my saying so here should change it. Just pointing out that it is exactly that aggressive mentality that stops Blood Bowl from getting free publicity, annoys the would-be return customers, and prevents them from being able to see that if they would just produce some good figs at a decent price people would buy them.
