Ebay: Midgardmodels - Anyone buy from them?

Post by mrinprophet »

Given I'm having little luck in finding a paint for lead/$$ exchange, I'm looking on ebay and have noticed that ebay seller midgardmodels (Argentina) sells, or at least offers, quite a few BB teams and I'm thinking that might be an option for a couple of teams. They only have a few teams I'd consider (high elf and vamps) as I'd rather not get Grandma's stuff if there are better options. I bought Gaspez-Arts Chaos Dwarves and they are so much better.

Anyway, has anyone bought from them and, if so, were you satisfied with the quality of the paint job? Suggestions?

They've been discussed before and I think the general (though not unanimous) consensus was that they sell recasts. There was no hard evidence of this, just the facts that they supply the models so inexpensively, have a limited selection of what is available (cannot come up with certain models that are still in production, in other words) and refuse to paint models that are sent to them (possibly suggesting that a very high percentage of their income is going to painting labor and not to the models).

I have a dark elf team painted by them on commission that I like pretty well. Midgard completely ignored my specified colors the first time and the set had to be redone, but eventually they came out as I had wanted. Communication wasn't very pleasant, however. More recently I bought a Headsplitter from them on eBay. I used the "best offer" button and got it for about 33% of the listed price. The paint job really isn't very good, but I only wanted something serviceable and knew what to expect. Their bases appear to be made of hard epoxy glue and the "flock" is coarse sawdust.

Midgard offers an easy and affordable option, so long as you know what to expect from them.

I bought a Skaven team from them a couple years ago.

Price was fair, and paintjob was good.

But those bases are horrible. I had to pull a few off because they were glued on too close to one of the edges.

Bad communication, they always repeat the same sentences and dont try to find solution. I payed in january 2010 and nothing, grrrr :pissed:

You could have just reclaimed the money through PayPal.

I've bought 2 Treeman from them,

The painting wasn't at the standat I would expected but anyhow the price for the treeman itself was OK.
