Hi all,
Currently (inbetween cast Pot-Plants and Rigid Resin Boards!!) experimenting in making a version of the boards in flexible poly-u foam resin.
The first initial trial segment in raw form is great (Gonna do one for myself regardless for tourni events!) foam set feels like calk board but retains the detail of the rigid boards in similarity.
Current spray and flex tests using a generic car plastic blacking spray and a brown "Plasti-Kote" spray have performed very well. With severe flexing of the trial board the paint did not crack, the only point to make is that the next time I spray one I will fix it to a round surface so that deep crease areas are flexed and opened so that the spray will hit that as well.
Current experimentation will include resin pigment colouration of the raw resin and with "Pre-Flocked" effect. As in the raw resin is pigmented to either a brown underlaying colour or a gark green and a FLock added to the moulding proccess to bind straight in with it to give a ready done board. I ain't painting the lines on it!!
Anyway,
If pigmented to a colour and you didn't want it to be flocked etc and used straight from mould with marker lines painted on by yourselves what colour would it be. Brown , Green (Shade?), Grey/blue (to match granite effect already there) ???
Trial section will roll up like thick leather. Its going to be great for sticking in a rucsack to go down the club with rather than wedging in the standard board for use.
Initially it will be the two parter as a set...if it goes ahead and the resin/pigment/material costs look OK.
I may even stretch to forking out the £70 in raw molding rubber to cast a full board....maybe....doubtful, there must be a major interest to consider this.
Right your thoughts now, I've still got Pot-Plants to cast!!
