I think Gentlemens agreements are a thing of the past, especiallly with a certain unamed gentlemen buying most of the bb stuff on ebay and then reselling it at inflated prices

That was as far as my max bid was going to be. I was after the Star Players and some of the teams. Good luck with it.

Firebreather's got it right. The days of 'gentlemen's agreements' have long since gone the way of the dodo as far as ' a general rule of thumb' goes. It worked well for what was essentially a relatively small and close knit community for a time, but the size of this place nowdays coupled with 'all's fair in love and business' from the likes of tritex/margaretthorn (I'll name names Steve! :P ) have killed any such notion as a forum ideal.
Too big here now, simple as that. If you know the guy, swap pms and sort it personally ( then member x will come in and snipe you anyway!).
Ah lead. Collectability. Profit. Hard cash. Some people really need to get a feckin grip, but I'm done with any expectations of the 'TBB community' nowdays.

Don't worry about talking about me - I get used to it good or bad! Well I am not making excuses for buying & selling, its just what I do and a lot of other guys on this forum do too just not as much as me, many are set on timed bids so I really don't know who is bidding at time of buying! I buy in large lots that are not accessible to people who only want a few choice pieces, keep a few for myself and sell others on. If they are not good enough painted I strip em all to boot!

Who else on this forum is going to buy over £5k worth of blistered star players & teams to enable access to these figures at 1/2 GW new prices? As I said new stuff I will buy and sell lower than ticket prices but older stuff its really down to supply & demand!

This auction lot I have had my eye on for a while. Actually in the main because I like the paint jobs on the close ups I can see and need a few more better painted star players for my own collection but theres actually a lot of plastic figures hidden in this lot which de-values it.

Will I be bidding - prossibly & probably, depends on the price. I am with Valen on assesment of price at the moment so its a bit neck & neck but we will see.

Gentlemans agreements...Hmm I think theres too many people out there buying & selling now to play this game - although I am more than willing if someone really wants a particular piece to buy a lot and sell that bit on at a divisable cost. I do this a lot people in the know just ask rather than making a big deal of it! Invariably nowadays if you say 'don't bid because I am bidding' someone else goes & bids over and both lose out. It all sounds nicey nicey but in reality doesn't really work!

Theres will allways be a few guys who won´t take part in a gentlemans agreement but we could agree that it´s best for everyone if noone forces the price too high if another member would pay more

With one person swooping in to buy and resell just about every lot, there's only one person that will benefit from that...

Then do an agreement without him!

All others would benefit.
No one forces the other bid.
He would step in so or so, but if not buying would be cheaper.
