Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!
So I have a number of items on auction for Lord of the Rings:
In general my LotR auctions have sold well, but will GW give up supporting it now as all three movies have been released? I know that there is technically one more release, the 'extended edition' DVD in about August/September time, but what happens in 2005.....??

There are a number of supplements lined up for release, like the siege of gondor that just came out. I believe they're also planning the 6mm (?) battle of five armies stuff as well, and they have some rights on material from the books, so that will likely keep them going for a while. But I can't see it being mantained for too long, now the films have stopped I imagine it'll start its slide towards background title - probably take a year or two though.

a while back I was searching for the online trailer for LOTR 3 and I downloaded what I thought was ROTK, but upon watching it I saw it was a trailer for the Hobbit, with Ian Holm as Bilbo and Ian McKellen as Gandalf.. lots of scenes of Smaug's fire burning Esgaroth etc etc... when I went back the next day the trailer had disappeared.. it gave a December 2006 release date..
I think they ALREADY made the Hobbit while they were filming LOTR, it's just they haven't had permission to release it yet.. either that or one very sick puppy spent a lot of time making a mock trailer to baffle the world with..

The licence is only good if they can milk the kids who love the films. If interest in LOTR in general dies off, surely support for the game will too.
If Norse's viewing was accurate, that would surely be big news among the film geeks. It's probably worth starting a rumour even if there's nothing to it.
well, I saw what I saw, but I don't vouch for the fact that it wasn't a fake made up from scenes from LOTR and another Dragon movie like DragonHeart or... er... Puff the Magic Dragon...

It's such a vast range that I expect it'll continue to sell for a long time to come, only the very mad and extemely rich could possibly have kept up with the release schedule.
I too love the figs BTW, painted an Aragorn recently and it made a real nice change going with earthy realistic tones as opposed to the bright (almost cartoony) feel of most of the BB stuff I do. I expect I'll continue to pick up figs here and there faster than I could ever hope to paint them.

You sick puppy
While admiring the ideas behind the Silmarillion, it really is quite deadly dull in many places. If enough moaning-minnies had a problem with the (IMHO) minimal changes made to LotR, can you imagine what they'd say to the changes necessary to the Silmarillion to make it remotely viewable?
