I think that what this um.... disagreement points towards, is having a more solid plan for the next team - and hopefully there won't be a new team being painted up every couple of months as I feel the rarity of this event is one of the things that make the team special.
Obviously this time around we should treat the whole thing as an experiment and a learning process for the next time. Clearly a set list of who is painting what and an agreed upon and obeyed entry date will make people happy and get rid of any potential misunderstandings and frustrations anyone may have.
Point of the matter is that this should be fun. You paint up a miniature that becomes part of a famous TBB team and if you are really lucky you get to be the one who wins the team. When the team is actually finished and sent to the winner is fairly imaterial to me. Once you have painted your miniature then you really don't have to worry about it any more. What does it matter if the team is only finished in a weeks time or 6 months time? Maybe the best plan is for there to be a set number of miniatures painted for the ream to be considered finished - 16 players, 1 coach, 1 apothecary, 3 cheerleaders or something like that. And everyone interested in painting a miniature signs on to paint miniature 'x' and once all entries are in then the draw takes place. I would be happy if this was something that only happened once a year - give everyone 8 months or something to send in their entries. Anyway, thats just me rambling on with out really giving this any real thought.

I really don't understand what the big deal is about. It's supposed to be a legacy TEAM, not a legacy "six miniatures", which is about what we would have had if we'd stuck with the first deadline. If anyone's to blame, though, perhaps it's me for coming up with an unrealistic deadline to start with.
Anyways, DaImp's cheerleader came in, so now I'm just waiting on the last few minis to come in the mail, then we'll have the drawing.

Yeah! More pics!
I do agree with Trambi that those who sent in Big Guys get double entries (maybe even tripple entries?) into the draw. It only seems fair to me, especially when the rest of the team is made up of stunties.
I can't wait to see the whole team together. (happily my girl is now with her new friends and can start sharing her tips on finding grubs underneath your toenails)

I don't really agree with Big Guys getting a double chance (this time).
After all, imho the cost of the mini is small factor compared with the working time put into these minis (and even compared to postage costs). And i don't really want to see the rules of this whole project change much right before the final days. This could lead to some bad blood between the people who contributed.

No, it's not you at all...the deadline was plenty reasonable. I get the feeling that if you had set it for September 1, there would still have been people scrambling at the last minute, and asking for extensions, and you probably still wouldn't have had a full team.Milo wrote:I really don't understand what the big deal is about. I'm not peeved at you, I've peeved at all the jackasses who can't read a calendar.
I say have the drawing now, and wait another week or two before mailing the team out (to make sure the winner gets the full team)Milo wrote:Anyways, DaImp's cheerleader came in, so now I'm just waiting on the last few minis to come in the mail, then we'll have the drawing.

You know wes, I'm beginning to hope that you're not the one who ends up with the benefit of the effort and skill of those 'jackasses'.
Late or not, people have put time, effort and money into contributing to this.
I don't wanna start a flame war, but I think your comments are OTT and you need to back up a little here.
Again, this was a communal 'fun' project, and whether you're personally pissed or not I don't think you've got the right to drag the whole thing down, sour it for everybody and start flinging insults around.

ok ok sorry i'll back off a bit, i was just trying to explain my eariler posts, because Milo didn't seem to get what I was saying. and i use the word "jackass" all the time, I don't mean it as badly as most ppl take it.
i'm just annoyed that this stuff seems to happen a lot when trying to get people together on something.

Ok fine, at least we'll have clearer cut rules next time out, let's just put this crap down to teething troubles. Sh*t happens, but we'll be a bit wiser for it.
And you know what they say ' ..a camel is a horse designed by a committee..'
Now I'm just looking forward to seeing some pics of the whole team together. I think it's gonna be pretty special and worth the wait and the hassle.
