Thurs - Sunday is usually the safest option because its easier to take it as a long weekend, otherwise its practically a week off work for most.

There are people that can only take off days in blocks of one week. They cannot add a day extra (unless in specific cases but that would be going into it to far). So for them it would not be possible to attend if it were held on thirsday-sunday. Wednesday-saturday would be much preferable for them because they can then go home on sunday and get back to work on monday.

For countries that have a huge number of players, perhaps they could be split up into regions? For example, in the UK You could have England South, Midlands, North, etc., plus Scotland, Ireland etc.
There'll definitely be scope for England and Scotland teams and perhaps even Wales (Hoomin? ) and Northern Ireland. However, if England was to be split into regions as you suggest then the tourney would no longer be a contest between nations as it should be.

Personally I think that Wednesday to Saturday is the best option as lots of foreign coaches will need to get home and there will be lots of English who need at least a day to recover. :P

Bit of problem about the holiday time but it is only once every 4 years...

I wouldn't have a problem with Wed-Sat either if it was easier for people travelling across continents to get home in time.

Try telling the wife and kids that. :(

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Is this common? I haven't worked anywhere like that myself so I would have thought that ensuring the locals needed one less day off work would probably be more advantageous.

Maybe not common, but I know of one guy for sure who would have to deal with this.

So it comes down to 'One Guy' and the world cup is all re-shedueld  Anyone asked if he can attend?

I am pretty open to either really I probably am not going to take 3 days off work just 2 and an admin-day!

Also if Sunday was free would probably take the missus and kids out for a meal or something to prove what a great Dad I was! :P

I can get there anytime, but with all the previously heard comments, and previous experiences on tournaments, Wed-Sat seems perfect, as that will not only allow people a nicer return flight (it might take 8 hours! More if some lost Ozzies turn up), but it will also allow the alcoholics to go on a guiltfree binge on Saturday night.
