Why has GW came up with another Elf team, dont get me wrong the new figures are a nice change and look top,
The thing that gets me, they have developed new rules for this team and worse thing is they are worse then a normal wood elf or high elf team, and which elfs does the team represent in the Warhammer World, because i thought there was only two types of Elfs in the Warhammer World.
Is this GW attempts to get yet more money out of us poor old gamers, my view is a YES
Cheers

Well, does it surprise you that GW wants to sell minis?
As far as I can recall, the new minis were sculpted bc. JJ (Jervis Johnson) wanted to go back to the 2nd ed. cyber-fantasy look. That they came along with a new roster is probably given GW policy to sell new minis.

They are "pro" elves - so elves that play BB professionally, rather than as representatives of their nations. The latter is what JJ considered the 3 previous elf teams to be. I never liked "dragon warriors" either to be honest, and always renamed my HE positions blitzer, catcher, thrower...
Pro Elves aren't necessarily worse than their cousins. The big advantage they have is 60k linemen. This means you can often start a pro elf team with 12 players!!!
Unheard of for the other elf-ies. But as Nark said, many other topics discuss this in more depth.

Re: The new Elf Team
:cough: Dark Elves, High Elves & Wood Elves are all WFB. 40k doesn't have woodies though.Ed-eater Speaks wrote:i thought there was only two types of Elfs in the Warhammer World.
Regardless, JJ has said he believes that the move towards WFB fluff in 3rd ed was a mistake and wants to return to the 2nd ed "Cyber Fantasy" feel.
The new Elves & splitting Undead are facets of this shift.

Nobody forces you to play them, and if you still like the minis but not the stats, play the minis as normal High Elves or as Wood Elves.
I never liked the HE minis and I never liked the HE rules; I found the team too static. What I like about the New Elves is that the team is (a bit) more dynamic (with Leap on the Catchers and Sidestep on the Blitzers) and "feels" more like playing elves. I do care about that.
On the other hand I dislike the new minis; I thought they would be cool, the idea is cool, but their long chicken-necks and Scarifications ruin them. So i got a bunch of old second edition minis.
