Squad system

Post by miguel77 »

Here is an idea for advanced teams. Teams can now buy unlimited numbers of players , however each match they can only select a match squad of 16 players that most fit the restrictions on positions as per race. I think that when used with the negative winnings rule it creates an almost realistic balance between getting a good squad together and surviving finacially as a team with extra players will probably have to sell players have there TR goes up.

You might be able to simulate this a bit with the current rules of 16 players. For example, the first 11 players you get are considered "Ironmen" who will play both sides of the game... offense and defense. Any additional player must be designated as either "Offense" or "Defense" and would only take the pitch in those situations. Ironmen positions could only be filled if a player died or was fired. You could then move a player from any other position into that slot.

Veteran teams are forced to divide their players between Iron/Offense/Defense, thus limiting them in some ways.

We tried this. 20 man squad, 16 match squad, it worked very well indeed.

Do the extra players count toward your team rating? Or do you just use the 16 that are going to the match.

The 20 man squad, 16 match squad sounds interesting.

And to the TR question, I think it would be good, that all 20 players do count. That is the risk, of having more than 16 players, but you do have the bonus, that you can adapt a bit to the upcoming opponent. That would be worth it.

Isn't it a bit unbalanced?

Undead, for example, can easily fill out the 20 man roster, while Elves struggle to get/keep that sort of team together.

By limiting to 16 you make even the cheap/tough teams have difficulties if a couple of guys are missing the game.

I second that. It makes bashy teams even better and isn't really a great advantage to the more vulnerable rosters. Who can afford 20 elves?
