Stadiums

I have seen some nice stadiums rules, but most deal with modifier Kick Off tables... or weather....
What I'm thinking about is some rules so each team has is on stadium, wich can be improved.
My ideia is that good teams (with high TR9 should have some troubles - the money table takes care of that... but should also have some backoff, to help them staying good teams...
And this can be fun: if the gate is bigger than the places available you are asking for trouble...
Anyone knows some rules? even if they are a book keeping nightmare...

The problem is that anything that helps experienced teams get better (and why invest in a stadium if not?) makes it harder for rookie teams to compete against them.
That's why Neo's excellent rules are a very good idea.

Ah... Neo, where are those rules?
Anyway... I was thinking of something with little impact on the field...
Our league is in the begging, no teams over 150 yet, but, I've read something about teams getting into the range of 250-300 then fade away - by lack of money to replace players...
I think those teams deserve the hard time, but... well, something wich keeps the coach interested in longer term.... and helps him rebuilding his team after taking some hard time...
You know... great teams can have some bad seassons, but as they keep the stadium and some supporters the rarely go really down...

Ok, I've done some "homework".... so here is what I'm thinking about: a kind of rules wich personalize stadiums and work like a bumper, for bigger teams, but don't make it harder for begginers...
In creating a team you pick a field and a localization for your stadium - using for them the Jonh K Lewis rules (BB9)... perhaps with the exeption that one needs a «regular underground» let's say, like compact earth... and I'm not very sure about bad turf...
Stadiums should begin with something like 5k seats.
I'm thinking of only 2 improvements to stadiums:
Making more seats and dooming (?!!?) it, when you doom you can no longer add seats.
The seats will only be important if the gate is smaller than the stadium: then you can add to the gate:
(stadium - gate)/2 OR
Home FFs /2
Wichever is smaller.
Another role stadiums can have is mantaining high FF, something like: If the FF is 5 times smaller than stadium then you can add one to FF rolls.
The price of seats should increase as the stadium gets bigger... and the simplest way I can think of is:
You can only buy 5k seats after each game, no more, no less.
The price for these seats is the seats the stadium already have.
And stadiums should be limited to some 80-100k seats.
These are simple some ideias (and confusions!)... and I think I really should have cleaned and developed this a little more before posting... but I was weager to hear some coments soon...
And... how do you call "compact earth/sand" fields, anyway?!?

Agreed entirely, Neos' rules are sufficient. In fact my League still uses them.

An idea could be based on background fluff stuff from warhammer to make an in game effect. Dark elfs hate the sun so why not take away heat weather rolls on the weather-kick off table. Dwarfs and halflings could based on their size play on a pitch one or two squares less length. Bright crusader pitch (old humans) could send off fouls on a 2+ based on the fans pressuring the ref. Grass pitch for elf but astrogranite favoured by orc for hard landing, could effect the extra square roll
but sadly not many pitch changes can be created without affecting game balance. The big rich teams are the only likely to be able to pay for a stadium and benefit, so think should be free and race based.
will reply if I can work out all basic teams a FAIR free effect, but need disadvantage as well.

Heh, the Boston Gardens was for years the smallest ice in the NHL, and guess what? Bruins played hitting hockey.
Pitches have to stay the same size!

hey that’s the point. Arsenal FC play on one of the narrowest pitches in the premiership (midfield passing team) and Southmpton FC (unskilled strength) used to have the longest in English football. Homefield is an advantage for that team and not for others. Yep agree nightmare to schedule league with home and away games equal but would add character if could be fair.
Think pitch length and width integral idea for stadium rules. ALL blood bowl elements need to be represented ranging from cheerleaders to mutant players. So if you want to have an ogre pitch (guess wider) then your going to need a craft knife and cardboard at least. For 15 basic teams and tons of other variants that’s a lot of rules to think about, and the unpopular pitch change could be part of it. Anyone using an old 2nd pitch will have a non standard endzone and I bet you they dont play with frenzy players.
Dont want to nag but this would add either major character to teams or be very hard to restrict to a balanced fair system that doesn’t favour the home side. (after all if they pick the stadium they not going to pick a disadvantage)[/quote]

"be very hard to restrict to a balanced fair system that doesn’t favour the home side. " is the key there. Ask any of the regular dwarven coaches about what they think about making the pitch 1-2 squares thinner and the druel out the side of their mouths would tell you all you need to know.

yep dwarfs gain movement by smaller pitches, skaven can have long pitches (sorry if your dwarf), human more strict ref, dark elf mighty blow from crowd (go witches), ogre less width (easy to gain block position advantage), orc +1 to AV rolls on astrogranite, chaos dwarf dungeons no long bomb allowed, chaos extra large stand add 20,000 fans (they need more money), high elf no quick pass due to high wind (bit crap but everyone thinks they are crap except me) norse think still can play on ships cant remember current rules, undead play at night no players can assist without flood lights. amazon? goblin ? wood elf? lizard?
Could be FUN rules but need to be far less powerful for normal 'vanilla' blood bowl. And sorry to say needs a league with home and away for every team (never work for league I play)

No way! If I were a skaven or elf coach I would short and widen- that is why this isn't really workable. Wider pitch is harder to defend, and shorter makes 4 players "1 turn burners" without needing sprint or move upgrades.
Check the other threads for how people would take the idea on "1 turn burners" being available that easily.
