Neg Skills

Should there be a way to get rid of a negative skill? Maybe a roll of 6,6 to keep it rare but possible. As it stands no once can make a star player big guy.

I may be wrong there used too be a rule like that (I think it was on a double) but it was changed, personnaly I don't think they should be able too get rid of naga traits, thats just the fact of having a big guy, but thats just my opinon.

In the league I run you can get rid of a negative trait on a roll of doubles.

However several other of the stars are impossible.

How did Varag get Jump Up?

How did Bomber, Nobbla, and Scrapper lose Stunty?

How did Nobbla get Frenzy?

Why is Zug MA 4, AG 2, and AV 9 ... has he suffered numerous SI stat reducing injuries over his life ... even so what's up with AV 9?

How did Ripper get AV 10?

The bottom line ... THEY ARE STARS ... they are one in a million players. If you want to house rule a whole bunch of rules so that all the star players can be made from rookies ... that cool and it works in some leagues. But really I don't want to see the official rules require all the stars to be able to be created from rookie stock.

Bad arguement with the older star players Galak. There we no traits in the 3rd edition rules. Jump up, stand firm, regen etc... were avalable on normal/doubles for almost all the players.

I have no problem with some of the star players out there being special but I would like to have a shot at making Morg'n Thorg or Count Luthor. If the updated rules do not allow for it is fine but would be nice to have the chance.

But they aren't now which is all that matters. Your point is that NOW you'd like to be able to get Morg from a Rookie Ogre ... to which my answer is okay and I want Varag from a rookie Orc.

Like I said you can add a bunch of house rules to make this happen ... I've seen them ... but the powers that be aren't going to add rules to the game just to make the current stars (they aren't older star players by the way since I can still freeboot them in tournaments today.)

If you want Morg ...

Add a rule that one doubles you can remove racial characteristic or take +1 AV on any Big Guy.

This house rule will get you Morg from your rookie Ogre and all will be well in the middle kingdom.

Having coached Ogre teams since the rules originaly surfaced I will tell you that if you allow the ogres the old rule of

Doubles roll = strength or Armour increase or loss of nega trait.

They will start off slow but in the hands of a good coach will very soon become unstoppable. My league forced my Ogres out after they went a perfect 14-0 in a season. It was their second season In their first season they didn't win untill towards the end of the season.

So if you want the possibility of losing a negatrait I would definatly make it very hard to get. A 6,6 on the skill roll and the choice of taking the Strength increase or losing the nega trait, I don't think would be to bad. But on doubles is not a good idea.
